18650 or 2 RCR123A Batteries?

So i have a 2w 445nm M140 Module with an X-Drive preinstalled and a C6 Copper host, and i know i can run the laser off either a single 18650 or 2 RCR123A batteries.

I know using 2 RCR123A batts will output more volts than the single 18650, and i definitely want to use my laser to its fullest potential...

That being said..

I dont want to overpower it by any means.

Will a single 18650 at 4V be better than using 2 RCR123A at 3.7V each? I want my laser to be bright but i dont wanna burn it up.

Its my first laser build.

If you have the X-drive and not the X-boost then you can't use a single 18650 as the input voltage will be too low.

Thank you for letting me know. I actually wasnt aware the X-Drive couldnt be powered with a single 18650.

It can be, just not with that diode, the voltage required for the diode is too high. Minimum input is 6V with that one at normal currents.

Take a look at the flexdrive if you want to run your m140 on one cell. If you don't have a test load you could also consider the nano drive.

Hi,
Instead of the 2-RCR123A cells try 2-18350's they will fit in that C6 host . I made a C6 with a custom copper sink and knob with an M140 set to 1.8A X Drive/G2 lens.

Hi MM,
No problem you will be happy with the results. If you want power output use a G2 and for divergence a nicer formed dot use a 3elemeent.

Rich:)
