1 CR123A enough food for a 200mW 405nm?

is one 3.7v CR123A battery enough for a 200mW 405nm laser ? or 2 3.7 CR123A will do the job better ?? thanks ! :p
 





It depends on the laser driver to use one or two batteries. In either case the CR123A is sufficient for the 200mW 405nm laser.

ok thanks for your reply ! i was just wondering if a 200mW 405nm laser using 2 CR123A batteries will have more power than one that use only one ^_^ :)
 
Will a car with two gas tanks drive faster than one tank ? I don't think so.

I used a single Cr123A to power a 500mW 445nm diode with a slightlylower Vf, so running a 405 at 175-500mA shouldn't be a big problem. Be sure to pick a quality driver!
 
As Blord said, it depends on your driver. A boost driver boosts the voltage to power loads with higher voltage drop than the battery could provide by itself. A sepic (aka buck/boost) driver is a type of switching DC-DC converter, i.e it takes DC and converts it to a different DC using special components and a very fast electronic switch controls how much power it feeds these components to match the output to what the load requires. So you can think of it as Blord said, it is basically like having the same car, but putting in two gas tanks. The engine does all the work, the gas tank just provides the energy for it.

For a linear, or boost only driver, your results may vary.
