Hey Kenom, A suggestion for your second run. Maybe create a diode seater. Simply cut the ID of a piece of stock to the OD of the head. Bore a center hole with a 3mm diameter. Maybe make it thick enough to not have the leads stick out. Then all people would have to do is put the diode at center...

There are graphs on the previous page. 400ma seems to be about the right amount. Corresponds to just under 250 mw when using a glass lens.
