Has anyone tried this?
My idea is to remove the bottom cap/seal while keeping the glass intact in order to slide out the metal interior tube and fit it with some LED's and make a neat lamp out of the laser's glass shell.
I made a lamp with a working HeNe and it turned out really well...

I made this yesterday. Built it from scratch using parts from other things I had taken apart.
Thanks to daguin for helping me locate a power supply, and this forum for inspiring my love of lasers.
These are my four lasers.
The two cree were made by Igor.T
The one in the ehgemus host was made by laser_freak. It has a switch on the driver that allows me to place it into hi/low mode.
I also have this HeNe that I assembled.
I got bored and did some photoshop too:
This is how I pack...
I purchased a Melles Griot 05-LHR-911
I also purchased a corresponding powersupply.
Now heres a pic of the tube. Which end is positive? I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to attach it where the rings are on the end...?
Any help would be appreciated.
DIY or not,
PM me or respond to this thread if you are interested in selling your 445nm blue laser.
Looking for >200mw and I don't care if it is DIY or not. Might prefer one of Jayrobs kits.
Let me know!
Hey all,
long long time since I've been on, but I started playing with my lasers again and realsized how fun they were and this is my issue.
My greenie has some serious refracting issues, and I need to clean the lense.
How would I do this? I don't know if anyone is familiar with this model.
Hello everyone,
I am selling pre-built laser diode drivers capable of powering a red burner, or a bluray. Specify which type of laser you will be powering, and it will be built to your specifications. It will be built and mounted on a PCB about 1' x 2' (2.5cm x 5cm) With leads for both the...
Hey guys,
I'm having real trouble figuring this out.
So I built the cicruit, and I used an NTE956 regulator, as the LM317 I had did the same thing, so I believed it was faulty. Its the same chip, just by a different company.
My problem is this:
When I measure my mV, which would give me my...
Hey guys,
I just assembled DDL's driver, and I have seen blu-ray light goodness!!!!
I only have 1 problem, and it is a bit major.
While measuring the voltage across the diode, i turn my pot slowly until it begins to lase, I get it to about 4.3v, where the brightness looks about right, and its...

Re: N00b question, how many mA does a DVD diode ne
This question is answered on the very first page of daedals driver page.
Look around a little before you make posts. ;)
Welcome to LPF! Enjoy making your circuit, and burning things. ;D
OK, here's johnny.
If I was to build a DIY red, using either the GB diode, or one salvaged from a dvd burner
The point is to have say 4v of battery power, how many ma should the driver be pushing out?
I can build one, but schematics confuse me. So how many ma and how many volts should the...
I just recieved an Aixiz module that I plan on using to make my DIY'er
it says 3.2vdc supply would work, and since a computer powersupply has a 3.3vdc output I plan on using that to try it out, but I have one question:
Would the current be too strong? Or would anything stop it from working...
