Can cheap Chinese CC CV modules be used as laser driver?

Nope, those CC CV modules won't work :/ , then turned on the module briefly provides the set voltage and only 150ms later goes in to Constant Current (CC) mode. The module may do the job if the set voltage is very close to the LD operating voltage, else the LD might not survive the 150ms of...

Can cheap Chinese CC CV modules be used as laser driver?

I know that, I did a test on an ordinary buck converter to see if the buck converter design doesn't produce voltage overshoots, now I've done tests with the most common buck converters (I tested 6 models), and it seems none of them make overshoots, now I just need to get that CC CV module and...

Can cheap Chinese CC CV modules be used as laser driver?

I did some tests with a random buck converter module and it shows some really good results - no spikes when turning it on/off. The module was set to 10v, and the load was a 10ohm resistor so there was a current of 1A flowing, module input was 20v.

Can cheap Chinese CC CV modules be used as laser driver?

What if I were to put a film capacitor on the output to smooth out the spike, and a zener diode to make sure the supply voltage doesn't go over the max LD operating voltage?

Can cheap Chinese CC CV modules be used as laser driver?

I'm looking for a very cheap and power efficient alternative for LM317 or LM338. My only worries are that the module may produce voltage pulses when turned on/off. Has anybody tried to use them?

Repair of a partially dead LD

i think the main factor that effects the diode output power instantly after being de-canned is that air cools down the die itself so maybe the edges of the die don't get total inversion and don't lase. of course that's just a theory of mine that needs to be proven, but i think it can be quite...

Repair of a partially dead LD

Yes i forgot to mention that you can press it in but then there is problems with the lens. Glad you corrected me.

Repair of a partially dead LD

But now when i think about it... There are sellers selling laser diodes with a ball lens and in order to fit the LD in to an Aixiz module one must de-can the LD. So it means that its power will drop overtime, so if i were to build a laser pointer with such an LD in a few years it would turn in...

Repair of a partially dead LD

I think the degradation started, today i measured the LD powrer output and it has dropped by 50mw so i think what you're saying is true. It will probably die in the following months.

Repair of a partially dead LD

Holy S**T! that's a lot of work. It probably took months ir even years to align everything.

Repair of a partially dead LD

I just just the classical 2 mirror 1 beam splitter setup.but of course to het that nice pattern i had to tune The mirrors for 5 hours because i just used paper shims to get the leveling right.

Repair of a partially dead LD

Well we will see if the power drops in the period of a few years

Repair of a partially dead LD

I used the NDB7412T. I know its not a single mode diode, has horrible beam specs and so on... (But is SUPER cheap i paid 10 usd for mine) I just wanted to see if my setup is gonna work. well it did work and now i know that using an LD that has output power over 100-300mw is gonna burn without...

Repair of a partially dead LD

So i was by building a michaelson interferometer it was working very well but after 10 mins of operation i started seeing some decrease in beam quality, it started getting grainy. I didn't realise that the insides were starting to burn because some of the beam was reflecting back in to the LD...
