    A new Kipkay?

It doesn't equal one 40 watt beam, but it is still a 40 watt laser, just with multiple beams.

    Kryton Groove tailswitch shenanigans

Thanks for the photos, Down with Umbrella! I've pulled a switch from one of my SurvivalLasers hosts and done something very similar (using a bit of pencil rubber as an extender so it's reversible) and hallelujah! It works! It would almost be better if the tailcap was shorter & threaded for the...

    Name my shop

Being close to the UV end of the spectrum, 420nm diodes would be good at 'blazing it'... :p Illuminati! :D

    Kryton Groove tailswitch shenanigans

If the high current is what murders them that explains why the tailcap for the red one operated perfectly until I started using it for the blue! The switch is definitely the weakest link as when I bridge the tailcap with wire or my multimeter in current mode everything works totally fine. I'll...

    Kryton Groove tailswitch shenanigans

I would very much appreciate some photos and tips if and when you have the time :) Interestingly enough I already flagged the SurvivalLaser switch modules as a possible swap-in and bought two, so it seems we think alike!

How to get laser pointer into Australia

Greetings, fellow australian! :D That sucks. In general, the easiest way to avoid this problem is to have the laser shipped disassembled. If the empty body and the diode/driver module are shipped in separate packages, you'll generally have no issues getting through customs as it's not illegal...

    Kryton Groove tailswitch shenanigans

Hi all! I recently purchased a number of different bits and pieces and assembled my first self-built custom lasers out of two Kryton Groove hosts. One with a Oclaro HL63133DG 638nm diode, a V5 FlexDrive @ 300mA, and a three-element lens (the divergence is AMAZING on this one, and such a nice...

Re: FS: Sanwu Laser shop - R/G/B handeheld Lasers ***Guardian Series update*** I got my 300mW 638nm Sanwu Pocket Series in the mail and wow, this thing is nice! Podo was kind enough to ship the body and laser diode module separately to avoid any Australian customs shenanigans, and he even...

Adding a simple laser pointer to an existing project of mine...

That only works if you trust the power supply to be stable, though. If it's a cheap chinese switchmode brick...

    WTB: Variable Power Supply

    I recently bought a Siglent SPD3303D from Trio Test & Measurement in Sydney, via their eBay store. Siglent SPD3303D 195W DC Power Supply 30V 3A X 2 2 5V 3 3V 5V 3A X 1 | eBay Yeah, it's $400... but it's dual-output, 0-35v, 0-3.2a, built in series/parallel modes (the 3rd output is unmonitored...

Green laser with arrow head + class II

To be quite honest, with the diffraction gratings fitted it's not going to matter much if you're using 1mW or 5mW - it's spread over a large enough surface area to not be a hazard unless you're firing it directly into peoples' eyes (and even then, blink reflex should prevent damage) - but you're...

    Putting a Flexmod P3 behind an X-Drive

Guys, the flexmod P3 has this functionality already built in with its modulation input! Noisy contacts switching power between two drivers are completely un-neccessary. You just set the flexmod's maximum current to 1.8 amps, minimum (0 Bias pot) to just barely enough to let the diode lase...

FS: Various lasers & Accessories GOING CHEAP | Australia

Laser 3 has been received :) it was well packed and works like a charm. I have no idea if the power is as advertised (due to lack of an LPM) but it definitely does a very good job of setting things on fire & I have no reason to disbelieve the rating. Thanks much! :D

    Battery maintenance/ performance

You've probably heard of it, but it's 100% untrue. Lithium ion batteries have no memory effect and if they're not drained below ~20% it doesn't reaaaaally matter how you treat them. For long term storage without use it's best to partially discharge them before storing, but if they're regularly...

Re: FS: Sanwu Laser shop - R/G/B handeheld Lasers ***Guardian Series update*** I've placed an order with Podo via PM for one of the 638nm Pocket Series models - expect a review once it's all here! Podo has graciously offered to ship the pointer with the body and diode module in separate...

    Blue Laser 1000MW - 450nm - PROBLEM

OP, you probably have flat-top batteries which have just enough of a button on top to contact when they're new & are being crushed into not making contact with each other after one use. This would explain why the saliva helped too - but yeah, as others have said, OH GOD DON'T DO THAT. Get...

This 200-Trillion Watt Laser Produces Plasma Hotter Than The Sun

200 trillion watts for one trillionth of a second... By napkin physics this means it puts out the same amount of power a 2 watt laser outputs over one second... That's not a useless amount of power, should be enough to light a match :P

SuperBoost Drive (5.5+ amp boost driver)

I need dis. No, actually. I could use one for a single-cell 18650 462nm build... yeah, only ~1.7 amps, but at that low of a current output this thing shouldn't care very much about proper heatsinking... PM sent :P
