I bought this a couple of months ago to chase geese. Once I figured things out it worked really well. I used it about 10 times and now I don't have a use for it.
Its a 1 watt aluminum heat sink 520nm laser with adjustable focus. It comes with multiple modes...Low, medium, high strobe and S.O.S...
So I have been using the laser more and getting better results each time. I also learned this weekend that my one neighbor has been chasing them with a weak laser pointer at night.
So I think part of the reason that some of the geese don't fear the beam as much is because they are getting used...
I have been playing around with the focus and have noticed that the geese are more afraid of the dot when its brighter and smaller.
When I first tried this, the beam wasn't focused and the dot was rather large at distance. Now I'm working with a smaller brighter dot and they do run from it.
I...
Just tried again this morning with the geese actually on the ground. I had three of them walking around about 200 feet away from me.
I shined the laser about 10 feet away from them and slowly brought it closer. At first, they walked away from the light and stopped honking but that didn't last...
Today I tried it again with them all on the grass walking around. Some walked away from the light but seemed to ignore it fairly quickly. The only thing it really did was make them stop honking.
No, I did not blind any of them.
I can't use anything with loud noises my neighbors would kill...
So today I tried it again on the geese since now I could see the laser point. The geese where about 100 yards away on the top of two houses.
Two geese on each house making a ton of noise. So I shine the laser at the first two and one takes off immediately the other just sits there but stops...
Ok so I just went out again and tried the laser without the safety glasses. Yes I can see the green dot very easily and can sharpen the focus. Its amazing how much the glasses take away from the laser light. This thing is bright no joke I didn't like bringing the dot any closer than say 50...
well I guess all the warnings for these laser scare the crap out of me. The goggles take a lot of the light away so that might be it.
I was also leary that someone might step out of their house and look at this thing.
I would never point it at a window or a person just too much respect for...
yes its the safety glasses. I just tried it again direct sunlight and could see the beam and the dot over 200 feet away. I was even able to focus it from a large squareish dot to a fairly fine point.
I just have a lot of respect for the energy that this thing emits
I was told green was the best for scaring geese. I'm actually scared to use this thing without glasses. I did once to see the beam and frankly it freaked me out. I pointed it at the concrete and that was enough. I'm sure its because I read all the warnings on this site and others about eye...
Well I tried the 1watt laser today to chase the geese. I was about 100+ feet away and the goose was on the roof of a house.
Its overcast here so I figured it would show better. I lost the dot halfway to the house. I'm not sure if it was the goggles, the daytime or that the dot is so small but I...
I tried the 1watt laser for the geese at about 100 feet away. It was daytime and slightly overcast. I lost the dot halfway to the bird. So I gave up, it didn't work.
I'm not sure if I lost the dot because of the goggles, daylight, or just because the dot is so small. Anyways buying the laser...
