    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

I wish you're lying, i've a lot LOL. Thanks! I can stop trying to fix it now.

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

Hmmm. Are there fake lm338s/lm317? I bought this on ebay. I already damaged a few. lm338 cant give more than 1.8A, i thought it has thermal protection but mine sometimes die instantly. I think my wiring is correct since its working fine around 1A. Thanks all for your time.

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

My lm338 is also damaged, its not regulating current, it killed my diode. Is there a way to make the current stop flowing when regulator is damaged? Is it ok to add fuse at the output?

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

Thanks for the replies. I checked my wiring again and I just found out that lm338 Tab is touching the heatsink, my ndb7875 diode is also on the same heatsink. Is the diodes housing(dunno what to call) connected to diodes circuit? :(

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

Hi! I don't want to start another topic just for this simple question, so i'll ask it here. Is it bad to put capacitor on the output of LM338 constant current? My ndb7875 stopped working, the last thing I did was add output capacitor. :( Could it kill the diode instantly? I didn't even see it lit.

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

Wow 30% didn't know lense will give that much power. I thought upgrade is just to replace plastic so that it doesn't melt. I'll check the G2.Thanks!

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

I replaced the stock plastic lense with the lense from dtr, I forgot the name. Nice pics, except for the Ultrafire lol. My Ultrafire 4000 real capacity is less than 500mAh.

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

I put the copper module that way so that I can remove the diode when needed, I thermal glued it. I think it's still heatsinked since the casing before the copper is alluminum, but im not sure,I only tried it for a min and it's not hot. Yes this is 9mm 445nm from dtr, Do you know if I can...

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

Thanks for the info. On seller's page suggested 2.4A, still safe if they're not lying :)

Do you need to wear eye protection at all times

HI! im new to lasers, if We always need to wear goggles when using high powered laser, how are we going to see or enjoy the beam? i tried using my laser outside and wearing goggles, I cant see the laser, it seems more dangerous.

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

I though it's only IxV = P. What's ^ for? lol im bad at this. I'll post a pic, pls look if you think my heatsink size is enough. Thanks! :)

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

Yes my resistor is 5%, 6pcs 1W each in series and parallel to get the value .666. Still waiting for my 3W resistor. Thanks for the reply, Im gonna use 3x 16340 and 1% resistor hope it works. :)

    LM317/LM338 2x 16850 voltage not enough?

    Hi! I've NDB7875 Diode and LM338 Regulator.I used .7(.666) Ohm resistor on LM338, expecting 1.7A Current. Are 2x 16850 batteries enough if I want around 1.5A current? I tried using 2x 16850 and it's only around 600mA, I tried 3s Lipo and it's working, 1.55A. I just wanna be sure before I extend...

    Laser power rating question

Thanks again! I thought I can treat it like ordinary LED. Good thing it's not too late :)

    Laser power rating question

Thanks I think I understand now. That 6.8W is what im talking about. So the power rating that im looking for is not written in datasheet. Thanks all!

    Laser power rating question

I thought if you know voltage and current you'll know the power. Is laser diodes power rating different than any other electronics?

    Laser power rating question

Thanks for the reply! What im talking about is the voltage given to the diode not the driver.lets say im not using a constant current source, just a voltage regulator, If ex. 4V is going to the diode the max current should just be .4 so that it won't exceed 1.6w rating of the diode? Sorry for my...

    Laser power rating question

Hi! Pls help me understand laser power rating. Im newb at electronics. If the laser diode is rated for ex. 1.6W does it mean, if Im putting 4V to the laser, I shouldn't be pulling more than 400mA since 4V x .4mA = 1.6W even if my laser diode Current rating is 1.7A? How about when Using...
