All right, it is really strange then. Because my 480nm and 502nm diodes do not show this artifact when using both acrylic and 3E glass lens. But there is a noticeable artifact when using G2 glass lens. Also, I do have 2E lens from DTR and this type also helps.
ZRaffleticket, I ... I don't have...
ZRaffleticket,
It is probably even better to use something like 3E glass lens, -- it will eliminate the box artifact (if it does exist) and at the same time lower the divergence.
deadshadow,
This will happen when the light goes back to the diode's cavity. Diode emitter is not something black that will burn in any way.
"Increased output" doesn't mean that you will be able to get a more powerful beam. Instead, you will end up with somewhat external cavity diode laser with...
That is really sad to see.
Well, playing with highly reflective surfaces is not only bad for your eyes, but also bad for your lasers. I had one destroyed almost the same way.
The light from a diode can definitely get back to the diode if being reflected "properly".
In this case nothing good may...
Glad to see another Osram PLT5-488 based build. Looks like you got yourself a really great cyan portable laser!
Also good to see that this build doesn't have this strange box near the dot and you are free to use G2 lens without losing its full power.
It is really sad that we can't get a nice...
I am more of a reader. Thus I am not posting a lot, sorry. Still don't have a proper level of confidence for using English for discussions.
Hell burner ... Well, the story is sad. Mainly because I have started some research on ways to cover 470nm-510nm range 1-2 years ago, but today we have...
That hearthbreaking pain when you need to support the forum as well as you need to purchase some expensive electronic/optical parts, ahhh...
Yet donation has been sent. Thank you all.
Please, stop flattering me :yh:
Well, I will not get back my offer so please decide who would be the one I will be sending it to since you both don't mind it. Feel free to PM me once you are ready.
PS I forgot to mention that a long time ago a have had some troubles with GLP-594 from laserglow...
Hello, Hap!
I had a very similar issue with my PGL-III-C@561nm. After a few weeks it dimmed a lot. Well, as a bad solution I tried to knock it a few times, so then I received a 0.01mW pointer.
I don't know the exact reason of this happening, but there was a misalignment. A temperature change was...
Re: new Sharp 495nm diode
I think many of us do have an IPS panel with 95%+ sRGB coverage. At least our phones. Of course your monitor's preset must be 'sRGB', not anything else.
Also be sure not to compare anything using laptops, especially with a panel like TFT-TN.
PS Due to some perception...
Re: new Sharp 495nm diode
Well, I have 515nm, and nearly 510nm. I have compared both of them with my ~500nm LED. Well, for me the difference is good enough to say what is what without putting them in a line to compare the difference.
Also, it is up to you, because if you do like red part of...
Re: new Sharp 495nm diode
Well, the one from Osram (if I remember correctly) is requiring voltage around 6 volts, which is right near the maximum of this driver, and these are working on a voltage around 7 or more (am I right?).
After all, this is not a big loss I think. It was almost 488nm...
Re: new Sharp 495nm diode
I have used Micro Flexdrive V5 with a current around 80mA (at least I've asked DTR to set it to most lower available, though the output power is far above the one in specs)
Re: new Sharp 495nm diode
ZRaffleticket, this is quite sad ... Your was the one as I can see.
We need to get some drivers from DTR with a lower current to drive those carefully. 275mA is too much, even with a wish to get a shift in a wavelength.
Re: new Sharp 495nm diode
Not a bad one. But we don't know what exactly diode is used in there, do we? Though the beam profile is not so pretty.
Somewhere near this link I've found 4 of Osram PLT5-488 at a price $900: Click
I just got back to read the thread and now I feel odd, because these...
Guys :yh: Take it easy. I won't be able to handle something with prices over $700 for now, I spent pretty big amount of money on this project and I am not a millionaire :yh:
In addition, maybe when the next portion of spare money will come to my hands there would be something interesting on the...
Good idea. But for some reason I am afraid of any liquid applied to such an important place. One day I have had tried to clean G2 lens this way, and now it behaves even worse. But the idea with compressed air sounds good.
PS Your driver is not what it should be. Definitely :p
Just now tried...
Well, I was trying to measure it today, but I think my calculations are a bit wrong, just because I am unable to find a perfect focus to infinity.
I tried to use my corridor, it is long enough. So, after a bit of time playing with the lens nut I got these (without the aperture cap):
At the...
