    How Fast Is DRT's Shipping.

Every laser module I've ordered from DTR has literally arrived within 3 days (and I've ordered more than a few from him), well packaged and always works! His reputation is exemplary and well deserved!

Why buy a laser when you can build your own??

For me building them is the only way to go! Yea I bought a few in the beginning but I really came to enjoy building them and I totally agree with Alan, if you build it yourself you know the quality that went in to it and you know best how to repair it if it should suddenly stop working.

The Future of the LP hobby

Well it looks like they are developing a defense to these potential menacing drones and one way is to use lasers! :eg: Drone?disruptions?send?engineers?seeking?defenses | AOL Features As far as those hurting our hobby with their infantile idiotic use of pointing lasers where they shouldn't I...

What keeps you coming to LPF?

    1) To learn from the best! 2) To see what cool things others have made. 3) The comradery.

    more lasers hitting airplanes.

An average drone getting sucked in a jet engine or an airliner would be disastrous! It would equate to a bird strike of an engine and would probably destroy most (if not all) of the turbines and the engine would be kaput! As for these idiots still pointing lasers at aircraft it is extremely...

    Bronx Guy Lasering Airport Flights...crap

Re: Brooklyn Guy Lasering Airport Flights...crap Alan, Very true and in truth I wasn't directly making a comment about his living with his mom except for the fact that combined with what he did also seems to show him to be a real Putz! I know of more than a few people who live with their...

    Bronx Guy Lasering Airport Flights...crap

Re: Brooklyn Guy Lasering Airport Flights...crap Unbelievable!!!!! :banghead: This guy seems like a real loser! 36 year old Frank Egan arrested after "the suspect's mother invited them inside the apartment." At that age still living with his mom and his playtime is pointing a cheap overspec...

Testing a DTR module without host

If you got a module from DTR with a driver already installed you can touch the battery leads to turn it on but if you don't have a heatsink to put the module in while testing I wouldn't have it on for more than a few seconds at most. Also in dealing with a loose module be very carefull of where...

Klingon D7 Battlecruiser "Klothos" with three lasers & running lights (pic heavy)

Re: Klingon D7 Battlecruiser "Klothos" with three lasers & running lights (pic heavy) Thanks! Lol very true, they send me a ton of those ads (good as a spill mats!) but I do shop at them every once in a while!

Klingon D7 Battlecruiser "Klothos" with three lasers & running lights (pic heavy)

Re: Klingon D7 Battlecruiser "Klothos" with three lasers & running lights (pic heavy) Thank you very much everyone! Alan, I had forgotten about that video! Would have been funny to put a tiny piezoelectric speaker in the bridge and have a switch to play that coming from it! I am going have...

Klingon D7 Battlecruiser "Klothos" with three lasers & running lights (pic heavy)

Re: Klingon D7 Battlecruiser "Klothos" with three lasers & running lights (pic heavy) Thank you very much grainde! It took me 5 weeks (weeknights & weekends) total of which the first week alone was spent putting coat after coat of double strength gray primer for plastic on the inside of all...

Most expensive laser you have ever bought?

Would definitely have to be my 1.3W 520nm Lightsaber in my sig. All totaled around $750 in parts to build. But I love it!! Though if I have my way my build after the present one I'm working on could beat it (though it'll be two lasers in one large unique host)!

Very basic and probably dumb question.

Yes you can use a bridge rectifier which is primarily used to rectify AC into DC (pulsed without capacitors, smoothed out with caps) but your real problem isn't introducing stray capacities to the driver but the fact that no matter what you are going through two diodes no matter which way the...

Very basic and probably dumb question.

One thing I've started doing on my very expensive laser builds (1W 520, 2W M462, etc. ) is to put in some very simple but effective battery polarity protection using a Schottky diode on one of the power wires leading to the driver. The Schottky diode only uses typically .3V (has .3V drop across...

    I honestly hate building lasers.

Exactly what I would've suggested! And good advice too Pi R Squared! As a young man I could solder with ease & precision but after 50 I have the shaking hands problem too so I have a couple of helping hands fixtures w/mag glass to use depending of what I need to setup. It helps a lot & I...
