    LED/Driver help

Maybe I'm just bad at searching but I spent most of the day trying to find an LED(s) and a driver(s) that will give me an output of ~1500-2000 lumens (building a dive light for scuba). Any advice? There just seems to be so many options it's hard to narrow down. I found a lot on dx.com, I've...

    Heatsink/mount question

Thoughts on THIS heatsink for a 2W diode? At that price, I can't believe the included lens is worth a darn, but would it be replaceable with a higher quality lens? I'm thinking about doing a knife edge project... Think this would be a suitable housing for a few diodes?

    Power Supply for a 15W CO2 Laser?

I'd like to build a fairly low power (relitive of course) CO2 laser and found a 15W tube that would appear to fit my bill perfectly. I'm a bit stuck when it comes to power though. The tube can be found HERE. I was thinking to use a neon sign transformer, but I'm not sure what voltage to get one...

Accedentally ran overpower and broke something

I was trying to run my laser module (2W 445nm diode, Lazerer X-Driver) at a lower power to make sure all the beam came out while adjusting it to fit the apature of my host, and I turned the "coarse" rather than the "fine" adjustment knob on my power supply. Now it won't work. I believe it went...

    Star Trek "Boomerang" Phaser Build

Hey all, I figure starting with a nifty build is a fine way to begin my life here :yh: The laser module is a 2W, 445nm diode, Lazerer X-Drive driver, and 405-G-2 glass lense. Bought as a package from dtr-lpf on eBay. While in the process of looking for a host, I was watching Star Trek...

    Hello All!

A quick bit about myself, My name is Jason, I'm an EE student (focuing in photonics :D). I got into EM fun with coilguns in high school and by time I entered college made a basic blu-ray laser. Nothing too fancy, I hope to greatly expand my laser knowedge and build skills here and am looking...
