I know this topic has been asked quite a bit, but the answers always seem to only offer hints of a solution and never the whole picture. I also don't care for the 'tone' over over at PhotonLexicon.
I want to build / buy a basic galvo driven 3D laser unit for basic tinkering. I already have gobs...
Just got my 1.7W M462 from DTR and spent the afternoon retrofitting in one of my Reke Servo projectors already running a 1watt 445. Just to refresh, all my projectors are running in single axis only so they only do liquid sky safely above our sometimes big crowds. I already have half a dozen...
I mentioned in some prior threads about a 'hack' I make on cheaper projectors to force single plane scanning, and I have some examples.
Basically I've been aquiring a box full of cheaper projectors, mostly buying them from other folks for parts because they are broke, or just can't use them...
Here's a fun topic I thought of:
Name the oldest movie you can think of that has an actual laser in it. Or, just a movie with a sexy laser in it.
By 'actual' laser I mean 'actual' laser - not special effect laser added post via animation, etc. For instance, 'Goldfinger' doesn't qualify...
Got my Osram PLTB450 a few days ago from JTR's Laser Shop, and just now got around to playing with it. It's eventually going in a projector and I'm waiting for some heavier heat sinks to show up. Before I put it to actual work though might as well have some fun.
Color wise I can't tell the...
That's 80mW - I hate auto correct :-) Anyways, a couple months ago I ordered a bare 80mW diode module from E-bay with the intent on replacing a dead one in one of my laser projectors, or just mess with it. I'd have to dig up the link, but it seemed no different than the jillions of other ones...
I'm planning on upgrading one or two of my light show projectors from 200mW 650s. These were my oldest units, and while at the time they were pretty cool they just can't keep up visually with my newer 445nm and 532nm units. Fairly easy task swapping out diodes.
I'll likely use the Mitsi...
Greetings everybody. For the past couple of years I've been building really cool high powered LED fixtures (reef lights, DJ lights, whatever), but have been frustrated when dealing with lasers. Commercial fixed lasers are either uber expensive, or total junk. There's nothing in the middle. Quite...
