Try measuring the divergence again at several hundred meters (the longer the distance, the better) with pseudonomen's divergence calculator and see if you still get 0.049 mRad... :yh:
If you measured it at several kilometers, your divergence would be at best 4x less than your original...
A 10x beam expander will decrease the divergence by 10x. The only way to do that is by increasing the beam thickness at aperture by 10x.
This is what the beam profile looks like at close range...
It does seem to be an actual 10x expander based on preliminary testing.
My Krypton's dot without the expander is about 3 mm at point blank range.
With the expander attached, the dot increases to 29 mm at point blank range.
I bought this beam expander when it first came out in April and never knew the focus was adjustable until reading this review... LOL
Adjusting the focus is a bit complicated and a pain in the ass since both sides of the knurled ring loosen up. You need to pick a side of the ring to loosen...
Very impressive power output over 15 minutes!
Can you measure the divergence and do another LPM test at 70-75 °F?
Is this sample laser up for sale or do you need to send it back?
77 °F is a bit warm for extended laser use if you ask me.
I'd guess my Krypton's power would quickly drop within 2 minutes due to the "Tesla Cooling" kicking in.
UPDATE:
Seems like 3rd time's the charm.
So far this unit has at least 4 hours of run time and it hasn't crapped out yet.
This is my most impressive LPM test to date...
At room temperature, the power unfortunately starts to drop after several minutes...
I can't really complain though...
Blord, I saw that LPM graph in your sales thread, but I'm curious to see the sustained output with a faster response Ophir head.
So tempted to buy a Dominator... LOL
So WL must have used low quality crystals in the other 2 units since they only lasted a few hours each.
My current unit was supposedly manufactured this month... hopefully WL switched to higher quality crystals.
I'm on my 3rd Krypton this year after having to return 2 previous units.
Kryptons #1 and #2 were "within spec" and had +800mW averages over 5 minutes. However, both crapped out after only a few hours of total use.
Krypton #1's peak power dropped to <200mW and Krypton #2's warm-up time...
I find it disturbing that a 13 yr-old has a paypal account and even more disturbing that he was able to get his hands on a 2.6W laser.
My first laser was a 1mW red keychain pointer when I was 20 yrs-old and I still remember how immature and irresponsible I was way back then!
