Looking for smallest driver that can run 1.6Vf @ 450mA using 2X CR123A (4-6.4 Vin)

So I have here a HLD980300H4T diode that should produce 300mW 980nm @ 1.6V/450mA. I have a 2X CR123A LED flashlight host. What is going to be the best tiny driver? Where can I get it? Do any places offer preset current service? I don't think I'll need any boost function because the 2X CR123A...

Need help selecting a plano-convex cylindrical lens (beam correction)...

I want to to correct the fast axis of a diode to slow it down and match the divergence of the slow axis. I basically want both divergences to be close 12 degrees so I can create a sort of handheld laser "flashlight" that has a mostly circular/square shape. I've spent a day and a half reading...

Quick question on Laser diode specifications regarding fast/slow axis beam divergence angles:

When looking at a specification sheet for a laser diode (like this one, for example: https://www.laserlands.net/datasheet/11091055.pdf) is the angle listed the FULL angle of the beam exiting the diode or the HALF angle, as measured from the beam center-line? I'm wanting to make a homemade...

Looking to build a DIY IR laser (or maybe LED) illuminator ... 980-1064nm

So I've been gone awhile, but had built a few "lower" power lasers in 405nm and a 445nm in the past. I'm planning on getting into night vision and want to build an illuminator for it. I haven't decided on a method yet (LED vs LD), but i do have experience with home built lasers and I have no...

    Flexdrive... what side/components to heatsink?

I'm planning on running a flexdrive @ 1.25A or more. What components on the chip need heatsinking? I know the IC on the backside will need heatsinked and maybe the resistors. What about the inductor on the topside or the little black thing between the capacitors on the topside? Anywhere else...

Quick recommended lens and power setting... ??

I'm going to put together my next 445mn as soon as possible... I'm sick of waiting for my Kryton order to show up. I'm going to use a Trustfire A10B 18650 host... hard anodized, cheap, quality, very compact, and still uses an 18650. I'll use a solid copper heatsink/pill with a an A140 diode...

Low Power OSRAM vs OPNEXT 80mW diodes ... which is better?

I want to build a pair of 445... a low powered pen laser for pointing (because pen lasers are sexy) and a high power compact 18650 host. I already have decided the diode for the high power build - A140/M140 445nm diode @ 1000-1200mW power (after optics). I'm going to use a DX Ultrafire A10B...

PHR IR/red or 808nm red diode for Night Vision use? I need low power & sharp beam

So I'm still looking to make an IR laser for night vision use. I'll probably just stick it in a cheap airsoft weapon laser host. I think 808nm would be more "invisible" and better sensitivity for the NV... but 780nm is very cheap and common. Other LPF members seem to show that 780nm works good...

    New small 14500 (AA-sized) 445nm... 650mW ... $160obo

I built the actual host heatsink & laser a couple months ago but just got around to finishing the focus ring yesterday. Overall, there is less than one battery charge amount of use on the laser (for assembly, testing, and current setting). Everything is basically brand new. The body is a...

Like tuna? Here's a dish I tried making tonight - was great.

Spicy Seared Sesame Tuna (Sex Disclaimer - Cooking this dish for a date will get you laid) Makes One Serving 1/4 lb Sushi Grade Tuna Filet 3 tbsp salted butter 1 tbsp sesame seed 2 tsp whole cumin seed 2 tsp salt 1 tsp garlic salt 1 tsp crushed red pepper 2 tsp ground pepper 2 tsp ashes/spicy...

information on 808nm single mode diodes? - (making an IR nightvision laser)

I'm thinking about buying a cheap arsoft/gun laser sight and replacing the parts to output IR. For some reason, IR lasers for guns are hundreds of dollars. I know that NV sights and goggles are particularly sensitive to 800nm-850nm light, so an 808nm diode should work great. Power doesn't have...

    Awesomest Pump Action Shotgun Ever!

I have to say "pump action" shotgun becasue nothing is sweeter than the AA-12 automatic shotgun. But this pump is EPIC. I will be buying one when they are available. Bullpup - Only 26" Long Has TWO magazine tubes - Holds 14+1 shots (And mag tube extensions can allow 20+1 capacity)

Deciding on building a 445nm Pen Host... help me decide battery & lens...

So I've decided to start building my AA 445 pen build and I need some "group think". I want my 445 to be at least 1 watt output in a pen that is about 17mm in diameter. Super thin for a "AA" size pointer. I've purchased the rear clickies from DX and plan on making pen that screws apart in the...

Would a 445 diode burn better with corrective lenses?

I was thinking that perhaps with crrective optics, a 445nm laser would burn better when focused. I'm thinking a 405-G-1 lens with corrective optics might make be the best burner. Am I right? See, a 445 diode sent through a typical aspherical or aixiz lens has 2 focal points... the fast axis...

Looking for UV LED lighting solutions (350-400nm)... whole lights or bare LEDs...

I have a thing at work that may require UV light to correctly analyze. I brought my 405nm laser to work today and saw some good things... however building an LD array would seem to be very expensive (even using AW210 or PHR diodes). Plus, I don't necessarily need lasers - I only need relatively...

Sneak Peek: 600+mW "AA" pocket host (UPDATE: Beamshots)

Well, I've been getting bored waiting for the Kryton Groove GB to deliver... so I decided to use the A140 diode and MicroBoost I had stored and put them to use. the build is pretty small and is built similar to my 150mW bluray in my signature, except the heatsink is not press fit so it can be...

Are these Rayfoss 405/445 glass lenses the same as the Aixiz broadand 445 lenses?

As listed in the thread title... are these 445 lenses the same as the aixis broadband lenses? If not are they better or worse? I'm looking for a few lenses for some 445 builds. They look just like the aixiz lens but I'm worried they may not have an optimum coating www.rayfoss.com Also, incase...

Where to get TRUE 100mW-200mW modules/lasers that are affordable.

It seems you can't trust ANY menufactures when it comes to ratings unless you're willing to pay several hundred dollars. I'm wondering where I can get a module that is ACTUALLY 100-200mW (or higher) and will have good life. I would like the price to be OK too... but right now I'm not sure what...

Question about "when" your Li-ion batteries are "dead"?

Fully charged Li-ion batteries are full when a volt meter tests 4.2v static charge at the terminals. And Li-ion batteries are supposed to be dead at 3v (some LiMn batteries @ 2.5v). However, batteries tend to sag under significant discharge and there is really no easy to know what the working...

    Groove V2 with SOC @ 140mA using a single li-ion??

Would a single Li-ion work well with a Groove V2 driving an LPC-815 (LOC) at only 140mA? I know the Vf of those LOC/SOC diodes are only something like 2.4v @ lower currents. So there should still be some overhead with the driver needing +1.2v... I want to build a low power (~50mW red) pen...
