I have tried the Teflon tape also. It does the job and that's exactly what I used before I got a lathe. But the creative possibilities become endless when you have the proper tools... :D Only one problem, there's never enough time.:banghead:
I did make the adjustment knob and also the o-ring idea but I can't take the credit for the machining... My friend has been doing it for 40 years, hes retired and kind of mentoring me in the trait. He's the one that made the head. I drew it on paper and he created it. As for mag-lite I think...
Thanks!
Just a heads up to anyone planning on doing this, make the groove a couple more threads closer to the middle of the lens. I had a bit of a hard time starting the lens in the Axiz module, just cause I put the groove to close to the end of the lens. It works great now but relocating...
:thanks:
The Diode I used is a XJA-140 with a Micro fllexV5 driver. The current is set at 800ma right now. The intentions of the holes were to create more surface area to help cool the LD. Not sure if they actually help or not but I think they look cool too. I have also made these with RED...
Its taken a long time but I've finally put together my Maglight 3AA blue ray. I also think I may have come up with a nice solution to the loose Axiz lens (the half threaded 3 piece blue-ray lens to be specific) but it can be done with any lens I think, providing you have lathe. Basically I took...
the seller got back to me and I have to say he had no intention of ripping me off. like I said before... he has been really courteous and has responded to all my questions in a timely manner. if he was just looking to beat me he would not have responded at all. right now were trying to work...
that pretty much explains why my friends pointer we made set at 300mA hasn't burned up yet...he said he ran it for over 1 min with no problems and its still working just fine
iskor12 any idea...... ballpark what kind of mW i would get with the current set at 280-300mA on that 16x.
anyone know the max current on a 16x sony LD heres the model number
SLD1236VL
in its spec sheet it says 130mA but I got one running at 300mA and wanted to know what others have run these at
thanks
Niros 7
BTW so far we have been talking about the blu-ray...as I mentioned in my first post I also bought 4
of the SLD1236VL for this seller
If you go to the ebay link he has a link posted for the data sheet.... it says that the operating current is 130mA.....I burned one of these out too at 322...
I love it......
gives me an idea for a new credit card commercial.....it goes something like this
New maglight.................................10 dollars
new pioneer 12x blu-ray burner......... 215 dollars
taring open the package when you get it so you can destroy your new 12x blu-ray burner...
I was checking out 8x blu-ray burners on ebay. I know I can get a diode from one of them.
I just want to clarify that it has to be a 8x blu-ray burner not an 8x blu-ray ROM. am I correct in saying this

BTW
I don't mind if he reads the thread, were all being honest here and as seller on ebay he should stand by his product or just be honest about what he is selling.
If he has nothing to hide there should not be any problems.
Im not defending him but he...
thanks J, I sent him an email too with the link of this post to see what he has to say...when I bought them he swore that his diodes were solid and asked if I would use his LD's in my kits. I said sure, but under the circumstances I may have to find another supplier.
I just want to say that I...
