So I'm building a simple POV laser projector with a spinning array of mirrors similar to this:
I purchased this laser from Aixiz: 532nm 15mw TTL power adj. laser with DC power supply, AixiZ
The video review on youtube stated that the TTL interface can do between 5-10KHz. Ideally I'd like to...
I went to turn on my trusty dorcy mini laser that I built and the light didn't seem as bright. I focused it down and tried to burn some black paper and nothing happened. Now I know it's not dead because it is still quite bright (at least 3 to 4 times that of a 5mw). I check the current and it...
I've already posted this a while ago, but I just wanted to try out embedding a wma file. However, it's still pretty impressive that a 30mw $24 laser can light a match.
It took a while for me to get the focus right.
ok, so I have a hard drive (40gb) out of my old zen mp3 player. I know it works fine. I put in an external usb enclosure. now for the weird part: when I plug it into my computer (XP) is shows up as a DVD drive :-? Any ideas on how to fix this?
ok, i know this has definitely been explained before, but I have spent the last 15 minutes searching with no luck. How do you produce the "liquid sky" effect? is it just a very tilted mirror on a motor? i have built a spiro with low tilt mirrors, but can't seem to get a full wide beam. any links...
i dun went and broked off da violet pin on my blu ray :( :( yeah, so i after a few hours of micro soldering i finally got my two pins soldered and fired it up... lovely blu ray beams :D for about 5 min :-[ and then the violet anode pin snapped off flush with the base. any suggestions?
I recently got a job at radio shack (yeah, i know lots of you don't like them) and we just received about five green <5mw lasers. We haven't even put them out to sell yet. I think the price on them will be about $49.99 That's not too bad considering you don't have to pay any shipping and you can...
I just picked up a free laserdisk player that works. I was wondering if anyone else has taken one apart and found anything useful in it. I heard that it might contain some low quality galvos?
I had heard that a DX30 could supposedly light matches, but didn't really believe it. I popped my makeshift lens onto my laser and gave it a try anyway. It took me a while to get the focus right (as you can see in the video) but once i got it down to a speck, it lit within a few seconds! It...
I just finished my first laser ;D i used kenom's tut for the dorcy mini. I can't believe how compact it is, i love the power for the small size. Right now I have one 10 ohm resistor that cuts the current to around 190ma. Easily lights matches: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz5AByAW0k8) in this...
anyone tried to fit a diode into a headlamp? That seems like it could be kinda cool. Better yet, incorporate one into a pair of goggles ;) Sort of a random thread, but I was just curious.
ok, i know i don't have the best laser (dx30), but i'm just getting into this hobby. I have been very happy with it, i think i got a good one. It pulverizes balloons (check out the vid ;D), but I can't seem to get it to light a match. Is it even possible, or am i just getting my hopes up? I have...
I know it probably varies state to state, but does anyone know what the laws are concerning class IIIb lasers (5mw and up)? i live in Kansas and tried to look up and laws but didn't find any. Thanks for you help
i have a dx 30 and was wanting to concentrate the beam a little more. any suggestions? I would prefer a cheap solution that would be easy to use (rather that holding a magnifying glass in front of it ;)).
I recently bought a dx 30 and have been very happy so far. I have already gone through about a dozen balloon (most popped within a half-second or so!). I have a few questions. what is the easiest and cheapest way to make a lens for my laser? if i did this, how much more power would this add (i...
