stop looking at that immediately! its dangerous IR light. you should see a doctor and get a checkup immediately. seriously the amount of people doing this lately is horrifying

    Small Problem

its VERY invisible. 1W will look like 1mw of red if your lucky. as for cutting what material and what colour are you trying to cut? with 1W of power u wont be able to cut anything very thick or quickly

    Small Problem

do you also realise this laser is invisible? perhaps message the seller or open a dispute with ebay explaining it was an error (from memory this can be done, as i have seen people retract bids from auctions of mine even before, if they mistakenly put in the wrong numbers. also if the seller is...

    7 Dollar 405nm blu-ray US Shipper 150mW

^ those are not for PHR diodes though. the 300mw is also probably the pulsed power (though it would still rarely achieve this). also these prices aren't that good for were i live, hightechdealz is way cheaper with free shipping :)

    DIY driver problem

1W is still not enough. about 3W of electricity will be going through the resistor (4Vx0.8A=3.2W). to be safe i would go with a 3W resistor, using anything less is asking for trouble (even a 1W, it would work for a while but eventually burn out).

far out mate you still don't get the joke.. FFS everyone stop trying. also re: the module its kinda simple. how can you not figure out how to cut off the end of a metal tube yourself? you don't need someone else to help you

pontiac has given you numerous options of how to cut it

    DIY driver problem

i once used a 1/4W resistor in a build using even less current then this. a few seconds later it got so hot it desoldered itself from the bread board lol :D

    DIY driver problem

3W of electricity are going through it... if you try with a 1/4W its gonna end up in flames lol

    DIY driver problem

yes a 1.5 ohm resistor would work fine. note it will need to be about 3W

    DIY driver problem

use the rule V= I * R where r is ohms and I amperes, and voltage the constant of 1.25 for the LM317 so, 1.25/0.8= 1.56 ohms needed there is also the other equation (R1*R2) / (R1+R2) = total resistance (this is for 2 resistors soldered in parallel).
