I think all the n00bs who joined only because that 445nm craze can now only GUESS what wavelength is this... the fact that there's still someone who's collecting rare wavelengths, not just the c@$!0 445nm lasers just gives me a good feeling :)
I have this one and I love it. it's great for outdoor (good throw), can easily light up objects even 200m away. FandyFire C8 CREE XM-LT6 3-Mode 750-Lumen White LED Flashlight w/ Strap (1 x 17670 / 1 x 18650) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
I guess you need a new DMM.
I've got 2 DMM's at the moment. one can't measure voltage, the another can't measure current on th 2mA, 20mA and 200mA ranges :na:
so now you need to know, which diode is red and which is IR, right?
do you have a multimeter?
btw there are LOTS of good tutorials on building a laser on the internet and LPF
how about this one? How to build a laser (general guide)
Re: New review: LZGN-808nm 500mW Focusable Infrared Laser

there have already been several epic shows on this one (like this on Qlimax 2009 - just to give you an idea how many scanners would you need :na:)

how about this? $72.90 - Power Style Assault Crown Cree Q4-WC LED 3-Mode 200LM Flashlight Set (2*18650 Included) - 18650 Cree Flashlights
if you're disassembling a projection TV, there are multiple cool things:
huge (>1m square) fresnel lens, can be used to focus the sunlight and burn everything :eg:
HID bulb with PSU (ballast), often capable of outputing 3000 lumens or more
huge first surface mirror
and LOTS of high quality...
I think it will throw very well. this is basically a UltraFire C8 with another label on it. search on youtube: ultrafire c8 and you'll see...
from what I've read, I think it's actually TrustFire which has the worst quallity check from all these xxx-fire chinese brands
I think this one should throw better (and is cheaper too): $21.90 - FandyFire C8 CREE XM-LT6 3-Mode 750-Lumen White LED Flashlight w/ Strap (1 x 17670 / 1 x 18650) - 18650 Cree Flashlights
nice app, but why does it have to be paid? :undecided:
also, the icon should have some sign of LPF on it (if that's possible) - if u want I can make one...
