    Opinion on this?

The one that's growing on you is the one my buddy bought. It's not 900 lumens (at least not in the main beam) however with all the light spillage you see a lot more around the main beam, which is actually better IMO. Makes a great bike light for the money. And if you have 18650 batteries and...

    what do you drive???

Ahh... 'Cuda lust... I can relate to that. Although my rides in high school were a '69 Nova SS and '72 Plymouth Duster, I always wanted a 'Cuda as well. (but at least I did get to work on a friend's quite a bit). They were beautiful cars that looked fantastic jacked up with big slicks...

    Buying options for blue-ray laser

Hey Rog, Looks like a cool little unit. Do you have an LPM to rate the diodes with though? You'll be able to charge a premium if you find diodes that will push over 25mW (and last, of course). Offering the batts & charger with the laser is a good idea. Works for Jack at Optotronics. ;) Cheers, CC

WTB: VERY BRIGHT TORCHES[$50 or less]

My buddy the lumenphile showed up with one last week, It seemed about as bright as his 600 lumen light, and he doubted that it was actually 900 lumens. However, the reflector is not polished, so a lot of light gets bounced around the main beam, which isn't so bad and makes it a bit more usable...

    405nm Pointer 15-21mW-New batch - SOLD.

Re: 405nm Pointer 16-21mW-New batch - PRICE   As the proud owner of a freaky-good diode Miloš Blu-Ray laser, I'll gladly join in with the chorus of references. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] It's tiny size makes it handy to take along to the pub to show friends, something I'd find much harder to do with...

Jake21 – WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU !!

I've gotta side with Miloš here... Any creative person who has put his heart into building something will be pissed when someone rips off his idea. Whether it's words, music, hot-rods or lasers. I can totally understand Miloš's anger at seeing his product and auction copied. It's no different...

Fluorescent Minerals and stuff - Blu-Ray & IR

Great thread guys! I have a line grating from a recent eBay buy from Meredith and it will mount perfectly on my Blu-Ray, so that's the way I'll go. Sort of like a scanner from Terminator. ;) Thanks for the info on the SW lights. I will explore the options and make one myself. I have a few extra...

Fluorescent Minerals and stuff - Blu-Ray & IR

Methinks you're right! How would this one do? It's pretty reasonable at $50 and they sell UV goggles for $20 as well. Would 4W be bright enough to scan the ground or only good for close ups and photography? Thanks, CC

    Can anyone else smell that?!

LOL ;D They do say it's better to burn out than fade away... :D

Fluorescent Minerals and stuff - Blu-Ray & IR

I'm in Canada indeed, and my land is just outside of Wilberforce, Ontario. I'm told that the area is part of the rim of a massive ancient impact crater and there's an abandoned Uranium mine on the 100acre parcel south of ours, so I'm pretty sure I'll find a few interesting things lying about...

    wtb/gps

No problem SenKat Geocaching is a hobby where you use a GPS unit to locate hidden "caches" of goodies. They are usually off in the woods in the crook of a tree or somewhere not too hard to find. Popular caches can be huge and the basic premise is "you take something and you leave something."...

    wtb/gps

Hey Glona, For geocaching you're going to need an off-road GPS. I see these Garmin eTrex models on sale a lot because of their monochrome screens, so that's a good way to get started. If you buy a road nav model it will be no good in the woods. My best suggestion for geocaching on the cheap...

Fluorescent Minerals and stuff - Blu-Ray & IR

Thanks for a very informative reply Pirateo40 [smiley=thumbsup.gif] I'm told that the 28 acres my wife and I just purchased up North is riddled with Calcite pipes. The area is known for amethysts, mica, asbestos and uranium, so I'll be turning my Miloš Blu-Ray into a wide-beam flashlight to...

    Laser head-mounted display patent

Hey folks, Check out this patent that Apple applied for using RGB lasers to drive a head-mounted display for iPods, etc. RGB diodes again, schematics too! See it here! Kewl, CC

Looking for a dx200 or >30mW greenie in good cond.

Re: Looking for a dx200 or >30mW greenie in good c I agree... I've got my DX200 up over 200mW, but it takes brand new Energizer Titanium AAAs and a bit of creative cooling. See vid here. And even then, It only stays at 200+ for 30 sec. or so before it's slow inexorable fall to sub-100mW due...

Fluorescent Minerals and stuff - Blu-Ray & IR

Hiya Pirate, I checked out your store. Nice stuff. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] I really like the look of MSG1035, but if I read correctly, Blu-Ray laser light @ 405nm would only give the same effect as seen in your "longwave" images and not the spectacular colours of the shortwave. Am I correct? I...
