Laser for Man OverBoard in the ocean

Actually the Australian law says laser pointer OR battery operated laser.

10 watt Green laser for $99

If you want to see how bad the advertising gets have a look at lasers on Ali Express. You can get Megawatts of laser power if you want. And all for $10.

So many sellers on Ebay have a habbit of posting the "Input" power to the Laser Diode. Not the optical output power. The optical output power is probably less that 5 Watts.

    Tactical flashlight question

If you buy LED's from china on Ebay you won't get what you expect. The Chinese LED's are crap. They will not work at there rated output. I have bought 3 Watt LED's from Ebay and they are only reliable to about 1 Watt. If you want a reliable higher power LED you will need to pay more for 1 LED...

    7W NUBM44-V2 over V/I production

Never seen a reason for Constant Voltage & Constant Current driver. Constant current is all that's needed for a Laser Diode. The Diode can't go over voltage unless the Constant current circuit fails or the diode fails. In both cases the Diode is stuffed anyway.

    7W NUBM44-V2 over V/I production

I would be very carfeull with this circuit. That is a Constant Voltage driver. Not Constant current. Laser Diodes should always be driven with a Constant Current driver.

    What driver can run these?

Sounds to me like the power supply feeding the LM317 is what's limiting the current into the LD. That circuit won't regulate the voltage as it has full feedback. The LM317 is a feed forward regulator. Full feedback will give full output. One end of your Pot needs to be grounded to be able to...

    What driver can run these?

That drawing is Constant Voltage. Not constant current. That will destroy the LD. You don't have a current sense resistor. EDIT On closer checking it's not even constant voltage. Its just completly wrong. I think it will output the Max Vout.

    BDR-209 burn out?

You must use heatsink compound when inserting the copper module into the heatsink. You would be amazed how much difference it makes. Even polished metal is not flat. It has tiny high and lot points like a mountain range. You end up with maybe only 10 percent of the metal in contact with the...

How to give a price to a private build

There are many factors that decide what an item sells for. And it's not always what you think it's worth. Supply and Demand. To many available and the price will drop. Not many available the price will rise. Competition. If there are many suppliers of the same item the price will drop...

    Ace Beam w30

I could not resist as well. I ordered one from a local shop in Australia. About the same price as Ebay but faster shipping. The torch arrived today. I have only had it out for a quick test but I gotta say I am very impressed with the throw on this torch. Even up in the air the beam is visible...

    Argon question

The Hour Meter is on the PCB underneath the output end. A few screws and the cover can be safely removed. It's the PCB that has the Photo Diode for measuring output. They can be very hard to read sometimes. A Good magnifying glass will help. They are a chemical hour meter. A little bar changes...

    AXIZ Laser diode housing

It's the AR coating on the lens that is rated for Blue. The Axis module will work with any 5.6mm diode. You may need a new lens for Red and Green diodes.

    Laserland 532nm 40x69mm 200mW - DOA

I have found laserlands china to have very good customer support. I bought a 200mw 532 and the unit was faulty. It dropped to 25mw after a few seconds. After supplying them with the LPM graph they gave a full refund. I would contact them and see what they have to say. I assume you tried it with...

Which is the BEST laser color for BURNING?

The amount of light absorbed is the major factor in how well an object can be burned. But the amount of energy in the beam is also a factor. 1 Watt of 405nm contains more energy than 1 Watt of 650nm. The Higher the frequency of the light the more energy it carries. Unless I don't understand...

    Whitch is brighter, 7W 450nm, or 1W 520nm

Looking at Graphs of wavelength vs perceived sensitivity of the human eye 450nm is about 20-25 % of the brightness compared to 520nm. That would suggest 1 Watt of 520nm is about the same perceived brightness as 4-5 Watts at 450nm. But then you would have to compare the light densities. Since...

Looking for 50mw to 100mw green laser

Just buy a cheap 5mw 532nm from Ebay. They are 50-80mw.

    laser body parts

Agreed using a 7805 is not a good choice. But what he is doing is using the 7805 as a current regulator. It will only output 1 amp then drop back the voltage. Pretty crude but does give a 1 amp current regulator.

    Customs & my address

I was quite amused when I received the Customs Seizure notice. I knew it was not a laser. Almost all my builds are DYI. Diodes, Hosts, Lenses etc. are not a problem with customs. Most of my Diodes in 12mm Modules come from DTR. Never had any issues.
