    5A linear current regulator?

If this is for a hand held, a AMC7135 based driver like the Nanjg 105C driver should work. You would need to stack 6 to 7 more 7135's on a 2.8 amp driver to get to 5 amps. Each chip allows 350mA of current. They "burn" off excess voltage in the form of heat. So you would probably want 1S...

    Does anyone own this flashlight?

Great to hear. I was hoping this vender would deliver the goods as that is the best price I have seen. Congrats on the new light and sucessful mod.

    Cheap automotive HID ballast teardown

This is slightly OT, but do any of you have experience with this or similar kits?

Have you received this light yet?

    Cheap automotive HID ballast teardown

Thank you for the additional information BShanahan14rulz and djQUAN. Not sure what you mean by "stock" BShanahan14rulz. Mine are cheap after market kits. I've heard of people over driving HID bulbs on purpose to attain a smaller, more intense emission source. I guess I could monitor the temp...

Collecting money on brand new S1 lenses

That must have been me. I apologize if I slowed down the process. I didn't realize this GB was on the move.

    Cheap automotive HID ballast teardown

Thank you. I have a couple 55 watt units for cars. I will need to check and see if they have a single ballast or 2. I think they may have one ballast per side like what your describing for your, I guess, motorcycle type unit.

    Cheap automotive HID ballast teardown

Great thread. Thank you. Was the ballast you show here for a set of headlights (Both right and left)? If yes, does the unit supply each side from the same drive circuit? I'm wondering if one could obtain a single 100 watt bulb and use such a unit to adequately drive it.

Where can I get a good laser meter (THAT ISN'T A SCAM)

Yes, nice to see some edits were made.

Where can I get a good laser meter (THAT ISN'T A SCAM)

Seems like people really like to talk down to folks and assume the worst here. I understand being cautious, but it feels more like folks getting a kick out of being "superior" in some way. Dude in the OP asked a straight forward question and even stated he was skeptical of the rated power...

Radiant X4: A LPM for the masses at Illumination Supply!

I broke down and ordered one along with a couple of those new XP-L emitters. Of course, my dumb ass forgot to order a cover. Oh well, next time I order I will add that to the cart.

    Good tripod?

Bummer. I just pulled the link from my favorites and didn't think to check to see if the price changed. $9 did seem like a steal on that tripod. I don't know enough about tripods to say if it's a good deal at $39. It seems like a fair deal at the minimum.

    Does anyone own this flashlight?

Definitely the resisters under the "A" circle. You probably know this, but they have a cumulative resistance of .005 ohms. Halving that resistance (e.g. adding 2 more R010 resisters) would theoretically double the current to your emitters. Other components on the driver might interfere with...

    Good tripod?

I bought a couple of these from this vendor. I'm very happy with them. Nice quality. I couldn't (and still don't) believe the price. It's probably larger than what you are looking for though.

Radiant X4: A LPM for the masses at Illumination Supply!

These are finally back in stock? I so wanted to buy one when you were running the relaunch special. Calvin or Craig, can you offer us LPM'ers a discount on this meter?

    Does anyone own this flashlight?

Black Shadow Darth. Pretty nice light. Very nice quality materials and machine work with good mode separation. Magnetic control ring with Off, Low, Med, High, Strobe. Also has tail lock out switch to prevent parasitic drain when not in use. 3P 18650's. A bit under driven, but decent...

    Pioneer 16X BDR-209DBK

Received the sled I linked to in Post 94. It's identical in all respects to the pictures in the OP. I haven't tore it down yet to verify it has the flat package 650nm. Looks like the vendor listened you Mr. DTR and took corrective action. Thank you very much for the information you provided...

    Large hosts under $50?

Hmm, I have an earlier version of one of those. Very thin materials through the whole light. The very thin hollow pill and lack of room to add mass and a good driver make it a poor host for a high power LED. But now that you mention it, it could potentially be a very good laser host...

DIY, Budget, Reversible Potting Recipes (Sorry for big pics)

I've tried to measure electrical conductivity, but I get no reading. Just like holding the probes in open air. I just have several different average DMM's though. Nothing extra sensitive. It's supposed to never harden and stay flexible "forever". I've have some oil base clays for decades...
