    New Gadget - 355/532/1064 Q-Switched YAG

I've missed this thread.. Very cool laser! Maybe one day I'll start the project of the big green laser with CW lamp pumping.

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please That is cool! Unfortunately, I don't have any 1122 nm mirrors. Otherwise it would be possible to build a high power 561 nm lase based on two 130W YAG pumping chambers.

Looking forward to seeing this unit lasing!

    Lambda Ruby Laser Head

Hmmm. Everything can be made much simpler. I used a 2 kV trnsformer, a capacitor and a sparkgap which discharged the capacitor in the transformer's primary. The capacitor can be charged through a resistor, so the sparkgap will shoot after a few seconds after pushing the firing button. I don't...

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Continuing to tease my 2213 15Vl argon head. Today I ran it on 10A and saw that it emits 2 close lines, a 457 nm one and possibly 454 nm one that was much weaker. When I tortured it with 15A -- 488 nm line appeared, mostly from the rear side. At 20A all lasing from the working aperture ceased...

    Lambda Ruby Laser Head

Don't forget an at least 100-150 uHn choke in series with the lamp, otherwise it will be smashed into pieces

Re: Another ILT arrived today Congratulations with a newcomer!

    Yes, it is.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Running my JDSU2213-15VL with my soviet power unit from a large-frame argon laser. I hadn't the cooling fan at that moment so I turned on this laser only for a minute or two. The tube voltage drop is 260V, the current is 7-8A. Are these values normal for this laser head?

Homebuilt 3-5W Copper Vapour Laser System

Great Thanks for your respect, approval and encouragement about this project, I was very pleased! The laser is finished now an will be put into storage soon, and I'll concentrate on another one. I still have a second UL102 tube that is air open now, possibly I'll try to refill it and build a...

    Tesla Coil Build Thread

I didn't really notice, but less then 20A. i didn't try to build a staccato, but probably I'll try... with a thyratron. But building QCW VTTC (like QCW DRSSTC but VTTC) I find more interesting and challenging. There are a couple of possible paths to achieve this. I tried one, but it was incorrect.

    Tesla Coil Build Thread

Hi to all! Before getting into lasers I worked a lot on some Tesla coil projects. I'd like to share some photos of one of my vacuum tube tesla coil (VTTC). It utilized a conventional Armstrong oscillator with a GU81M transmitting tube and a power supply based on the russian microwave oven...

Laserbuilder's collection of gas and other lasers

    26) 3-phase switch-mode power unit for a big argon ion laser. It can run a laser with the optical power of up to 5W while drawing 20 kVA from the wall plug. I've pulled it from a very old retina photocoagulator and will use it with the LGN503 laser head. It needed repairs and I successfully...

    Lambda Ruby Laser Head

By the way, check if your ruby crystal has any coatings on its faces. These lasers (for "unqualified" laser users) may have mirror coatings sputtered directly on the faces of the crystal to make the whole unit simpler, cheaper and more reliable.

    Lambda Ruby Laser Head

Yes, you are right. For more efficient pumping the light pulse from the flashlamp should be "shaped" properly, usually you need a pulse with the shape close to rectangular. You can achieve it by putting an big inductor coil (the amount of uHn in it should be adjusted, typical value is 100 to 200...

    Lambda Ruby Laser Head

Hi to all, I have some experience in building and tweaking the ruby laser. Yes, the full-reflection prism works as a HR mirror, but you will lose at least a half of possible output energy, because the beam will become TEM10 single mode. I know from my experience that OC is needed with at least...

Hmmm, have you got a prooflink? I'm very interested.

K301V 125W CW Nd:YAG pumping chamber for sale

Looking for an argon laser! The K301V pumping chamber is still on sale. I am fed up with fiddling with russian and soviet argon necro-lasers. Almost six of them passed through my hands during last 2 yaers and all of them had dead tubes, including the last, most recent one. It leaked air in the...

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please Well, I'll argue a bit. The lasers I worked with were not that powerful, but the "hot" electrode of the laser tube in the LGI-101 CVL has direct contact with cooling water from the tap supply. The laser tube...

PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please I personally don't see anything special about this. Only pull away the plug from the wall, in order not to be zapped by 40-50 kV on the anode of the thyratron or on the laser tube itself. Anyway, short-pulsed...
