The Search For The Most Deadly Lasing Medium!

Ok, I was given the idea for this from my radon lasers thread. In it I mentioned the possibility of using radon (or even cyanide), as a lasing medium. Now in this thread I am looking for ideas on the most deadly laser MEDIUM, not high output; MEDIUM. So post your ideas and if you know, what...

IR beam into VIsible beam how?

I think I will end up using 500mw or 1000mw in short bursts and maybe have to replace the crystal.

IR beam into VIsible beam how?

Thanks, I would have found that out the hard way:yabbem: Anyway at that price still worth it in my opinion. I will probably only use 300-500mw but even then I think I will only use it in short bursts.:yh:

IR beam into VIsible beam how?

See, I should have (even if the thread was three years old and the guy has not posted since). Yeah, to my knowledge that would work but I havent tried it or heard of others doing it. I actually have a cheap green laser from ebay on its way to test the same thing but with 500 or 300mw infrared:yh:

IR beam into VIsible beam how?

Yeah, I know I was really bored last night so I gave him some basics and maybe someone else will find it usefull one day, even though your probably right about the guy who posted it.

IR beam into VIsible beam how?

Ok, firstly if you drive it at the right voltage and current it will burn things VERY easily as long as you focus it. buy an aixiz module and a collimating lens. Google DDL driver, build it and use that. Secondly you wont be able to easily convert IR (infrared) into red light but you can turn it...

    Focusing infrared.

You could put a camera on a tripod or you could place the laser in a holder and sit the camera on the ground and lie on the ground and look through the camera, there is also these cards you can buy on CNI lasers that show up infrared I've never used one but they look great, last suggestion, you...

    Radon Lasers?

I think some of the beta particles would get through, it can take upto 1mm of alluminium to stop them sometimes, alluminium is denser then (most), glass and the glass on gas lasers is quite thin, I think the majority would be stopped but some would deffienetly get through

    Radon Lasers?

I still would not want to use it personally especially because the gamma and maybe some beta particle could penetrate the glass, and if it broke...

my new 2000mw laser with controller

Looks like a great laser. Also if you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost? (I would love to buy one).

    Radon Lasers?

Personally i'd prefer the cyanide laser due to the lack of deadlieness (and radioactivity:yh:) But the polonium/radon laser coul spell a new age of laser weapons, the reverse laser!!!, you give it to someone in a special "lead lined" (important) gift box, they open it up, they turn it on and...

Few questions for a newbie on IR lasers

Yeah, i dont blame oyu it would be cool if there was some kind of really cheap IR glasses but until then I prefer visible lasers two. IDEA: Home made IR glasses, get a whole lot of old digital cameras remove IR filters and attach to reading glasses or something, I think i'l have to develop this...

Few questions for a newbie on IR lasers

Yes, all you would need to do is put diode in aixiz connect driver and turn on, but i recomend using a multimeter to set it for the right voltage and current or else you may kill the diode. Also the aixiz acts as a primary heat sink and will help to keep the laser cool, this can be improved by...

    Radon Lasers?

As I thought, also one of the products just happens to be polonnium, 2500 times more deadly than hydrogen cyanide . Still, despite the overall deadlyness and short life span I think it would still be pretty cool to see. :).

    Radon Lasers?

Thanks for all the info guys, its been very usefull. I've been thinking about radon lasers and specificly the products of radon decay. I realised that as the radon decayed it would contaminate the tube, does anyone know how much decay it would take to stop the tube working?:san:

    Radon Lasers?

Hi, I'm just new to gas lasers an I've been wondering about the possibility of a radon laser. As i'm sure you know gas lasers use a noble gas or a mixture of them as radon is a noble gas in theory it could be used. I've searched for them on google with no results. The only reason I can think of...

    Looking for gas laser basics.

Update: started reading and its very usefull. If anyone has a cheap HeNe or other gas laser in Australia, email me the details at deadhorse14@hotmail.com.

    Looking for gas laser basics.

Thanks guys, i've read some of that before and its been really usefull. I didnt know about the gas laser section though but ill read it now, thanks again.

    Looking for gas laser basics.

I know a fair bit about diode lasers and the "very" basics of gas lasers and i was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help show me the ropes of gas lasers. e.g what parts you need, why and where to start. I know lots of this is already on the forum but i have been unable to find a good...

    New from Australia.

Hi, I've just started my account on LPF. I've been using the site for months but with no account. Started with lasers recently and i've been trying out different infrared and red diodes on my homemade ddl driver. I also have a broken 200mw focusable 532nm laser from budget gadgets. Uuuuum, so...
