    DEAL EXTREME

One other good reason to order any cheap DX green laser is for your own protection. One night you'll be tempted to run an experiment in your back yard, or show some friends how bright your RPL-300 looks when pointed a Orion's belt. When your neighbor reports you, you're going to be happy to...

    Liquid sky in green

That looks awesome! How is the mirror mounted? Is it a flat piece? What RPM are you turning the fan? Details, details please!

White matches or other burning tricks.

Yes, but with the white paper was your FACE getting warm ::)

    Welding Goggles for IR?

I finally found a site that lists the IR transmittance for different welding shade levels. http://www.aoa.org/x5364.xml Short version is that Shade 3 only blocks 91% of IR (OD 1.5) Shade 5 blocks 97.5% (OD 1.6) To get to OD 2 you need a shade 8. To get to OD 3 you need a shade 16+ (I don't...

    High voltage poll

MOT's wont arc very far since they're relatively low voltage (for a HV transformer anyway.) But the arc will be Thick and more white colored, hotter since there's more current flowing. A low current (30ma) 15kv NST will draw an arc about 6 times the distance, but the spark is thinner, weaker and...

New Group Buys Scheduled for next week !

This forum should be renamed LPC - since this is most definitely a Community rather than simply Forums. Thanks for all the hard work and pain, Greg!

INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!!

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!! Akima: So what are you going to call it? Cale: I think I'll call it ... Bob. Akima: You can't call a planet "BOB"! Cale: So now you're the boss now, huh. You're the King of Bob. Akima: Can't we just call it "Earth"?? Cale: No one said you...

    MORE Aixiz issues :-(

I see on their ebay listing that this diode/module is described thusly: "635nm module, 10mW input chip 3.2VDC configuration. Please note that actual output power will depend on your OEM application between 5.5 and 8mW."

    LED Driver - BuckPuck 3021

Yes, found em for $18 for the DC variety, $21 for the AC input type. 20mm x 20mm square puck. The output current is controllable through a small set screw, adjustable from 140ma to 385ma. No external trimmer pot required unless you want to adjust current more than 100 times or so (predicted...

GB Feeler - 635nm diodes and other cool stuffs

Re: GB Feeler - 635nm diodes Another option is AixiZ site, where they seem to have complete modules (just add current-limited power) in 635nm for: $12 for a 5mw module $30 for a 10mw module $1160 for a 450mw module with power supply or you can have 200mw of 473nm for a mere $2450 980NM...

    Surplus - Scanner Assembly $15

Not sure if anyone would like this to play with, but here it is: http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/m2521.html Loaded with great precision parts. We think these were made for higher end laser printers, but not certain. Includes a Laser polygon mirror/motor assembly with driver board, laser...

    Red DIY DVD laser burner.

I notice DX has these modules incorporating 7135's as well. The 5-mode switchables. One mode is 20% current output which would limit LED current to around 200ma. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.6190 That current range sounds perfectly safe for the GB diode in cw mode. One would have...

    Red DIY DVD laser burner.

I read posts suggesting current limiting a Dorcy driver through a series resistor, other posts suggesting current limiting a 7135 through a parallel resistor to siphon off about 100ma. Is there a consensus yet as to whether it is better to use a Dorcy or a 7135 if you have it laying around (or...

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!! I would want one to build a labby.

    LED Driver - BuckPuck 3021

http://www.allegromicro.com/en/Products/Part_Numbers/6280/6280.pdf Interesting choice if you want to use PWM or drive 3 LED's to a max of 150ma each.

    Badbadscary! WL hits new lows!

I will probably buy a pair as an extra to have around for friends. Unless they take clear goggles and coat them rather than producing them from a homogeneous material, I don't see how you can screw up For spares, even coated goggles would probably be ok as they won't get the constant use that...

    LED Driver - BuckPuck 3021

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere, but searching all of LPF I am unable to find any reference to using BuckPucks to drive an LED. Are they not used because of their larger form factor (0.83" square) or is there some other attribute that makes them unsuitable for driving a laser LED...

    *** Deal Watch ***

Here's one link for a large $2 heatsink. The probability it's the one hinted at is pretty slim though. http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G15636

    Deal Extreme 50mW Greenie +pics

The Ebay laser looks a lot like the <5mw version Optotronics sells for $33USD, even down to the case. I'm sure it would be easy for an unscrupulous Ebayer to buy a bunch from the manufacturer and sell them as 30mw or 50mw to the unsuspecting. That being said, it is probably a very nice 5mw laser...
