From nothing to Laser - What's needed?

I hope you watched bobhaha's video, it should be very helpful to you. This is the soldering iron I use Amazon.com: Weller SP40L Marksman 40 Watt Soldering Iron: Home Improvement Works good and doesn't have a problem with the silver solder. Digital soldering stations are very nice and I wish...

LoL!!! Complete win, I love it! I'm going have to try some modification with a dinner bell and make me a beer deliver ... :D

    First 405 and LOST!!!

Could of been good ol' ESD that fried it. Those diodes are pretty sensitive

    A real Microtech knock off???

I didn't buy mine there I was just using it as a reference. I actually bought it a Wallymart for ~25 so I was kinda of surprised to see the on-line prices.

    Lasers for VFX

Laser projectors are galvo based projectors so as Things said, that wouldn't work for you.

    Lasers for VFX

@RHD. Not a bad idea. Then if he ever leaves the filming business he he could use it to watch tv (although I've heard the picture isn't that great) or sell it to someone here who could use it for... uhh... watching tv! Lol

From nothing to Laser - What's needed?

ARGLaser didn't say batteries were bad for testing just that they are a pain to deal with. You have to use battery holders or tape wires to the ends. I used batteries only a couple of times before I bought one of these: Enercell Universal 1000mA AC Adapter : AC Adapters | RadioShack.com I...

How would you go about making a host similar to a ehgemus

If I were you I would stop asking people on how to copy his hosts and figure out the measurements your self. How do you think he did it?

From nothing to Laser - What's needed?

Variable current/voltage bench PSU, AWESOME to have. But if you're just starting out it isn't necessary and can be a bit pricey (relatively speaking). For our hobby batteries can accomplish the same goal. In fact, you don't even need a desk or workbench!!! This is a pic of one of...

    A real Microtech knock off???

I've always like the nice clean, straight edge myself but they have a very similar knife available with a serrated edge. Kershaw Frame Lock Scallion Knife 1620FLST (SER) - Blade HQ

    Lasers for VFX

ARGLaser's description is correct. Like I said, I'm not sure how much money you plan to spend but there are members that can build it for you. Maybe using pointers is OK for the short-term but this might be a better idea in the long run. Most projectors are Red Blue and Green to give you...

    Lasers for VFX

This is why I was thinking a green only projector but I'm not sure how much money you are willing to invest in this. I think by using a green only projector you could get the dots relatively the same brightness and be able to control the grid dimensions.

From nothing to Laser - What's needed?

DMM (Digital Multi Meter) Wire strippers Magnifying glass/doublet/jewler's lens Alligator clips/forceps Veroboard/strip board (if you plan on making your own drivers) Vice Soldering flux/rosin I'll keep adding more as I think of them but remember, some things are optional, they aren't...

    A real Microtech knock off???

Thanks for the link RP! I've always wanted one of these, cheap knock or not, but the price is right. I ordered it a few days ago and it's already shipped. When it arrives I'll report back here. I won't be using this as a EDC though. For that I have this little Kershaw: Of all...

    Occupation

I don't remember that. I will look it up later though. Did it happen at Bradly or Logan? It couldn't of happened at Westover because he would of been shot down by a S.A.M. EDIT: Found it, Logan airport, Boston LINK: http://new.yankeemagazine.com/article/night-air-raid-boston

    How colours work.

Re: This may be a very silly question. Yup, I think the basic answer (as basic as can be) has been given. And to answer your question of why don't they just mix this crystal with that crystal to get this color is they have tried. For a very long time, and to this day, there are VERY smart...

    How colours work.

Re: This may be a very silly question. Good *basic* answer but don't forget DPSS. I'm in NO WAY any expert but it is quite complex. These crystals have to be grown in a lab. Many things contribute to why we don't have a diode for every color of the rainbow. But a lot of it comes down to...

    DarkArmyOfOne/DAOO/LASERMASTER/Tyler Sweet

When this thread first opened, and the ensuing days, I thought the same thing. But then I read a lot of the threads on that hack forums and, IDK. It would be quite the elaborate hoax. I don't know if DAoO has that many brain cells left to pull it off. I mean there are dozens of members over...
