Why does it have to be WICKED that comes up with cool hosts!?!

I would hate to get lazed in the eye AND then continue to have my eye poked out by that host!!!

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

Lazeerer, would you recommend 3.0v or 3.7v CR123's? I am about to order some batteries for this driver type build!

1N4001 Diode Question --- Building a Test Load

Thanks for your help! Would there be any harm in momentarily reading currents of about 1.8A? Is the only reason why you say this because of the overheating story or are there inaccuracies/ other complications involved. I am thinking of heatsinking this test load which is why I am asking if heat...

1N4001 Diode Question --- Building a Test Load

Would this be the 'correct' 1N4001 type of diode? http://www.mantech.co.za/Datasheets/Products/1N400X.pdf The forward voltage drop does not seem to be listed anywhere. I am getting all worried :cryyy:

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

As a noob I really don't question what vets say but that is a really good point! I mean of course there are more flexdrives in use than Led drivers but maybe we are just scaring ourselves into spending 20$ more for no reason. Anyway I'm gonna stop hijacking this thread :p

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

My answer is total tribal knowledge from what I have read :o I could show you a few posts on it if you would like but I'm sure you are way ahead of me! In fact here is the one which got me most scared but maybe I am missing something...

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

I thought lazybeam was insinuating it would. I also thought all led drivers were bad unless properly protected because of the robust characteristics of LED's VS LD's.. seems not?

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

It is not that I doubt your research but more that LED drivers are known shorten the life of your diode in the long term. I am more asking the same question as LazyBeam: Would anyone have any advice on how to protect your diode with this driver set at say 1,8A? I am clueless with electronics.

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

This is great Lazeerer, thank you for all your time that went into this thread! I am going to try this for my first 445nm build. Will let you know how it went. I am just a bit nervous about the spikes. If it were to only withstand say 6 months of use it would be a bit of a let down. Just a...

Hi Jay. I'm fairly new here but seem to have become addicted already! I am planning to buy one of your 18650 kits for (you guessed it) an A140 diode. I am not really concerned with design or size, I am just going for the most affordable option. I am looking to buy everything except the diode...

600mw green - ripped off heavy.

Wow didn't see those kits before Just searched them. I'd be worried about messing things up. I would have to adjust the power depending on the strength of my diode?

600mw green - ripped off heavy.

Mmm sounds like an immediate return to me. Thing is, it was already second hand so I thought I had hit the jackpot with someone selling it for way under what they bought it for. Oh well. This forum has been incredible. Thanks very much guys. :) Now that I no longer own a decent laser, I am...

600mw green - ripped off heavy.

Hi all, Greetings from South Africa. I recently purchased a 600mw green focusable torch style for around 80$ from a local classifieds. It was shipped from his city to mine, which was the first vital mistake I made because of course I could not check it out. Although I am a total laser noob I...
