Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

Nah its parallel so I just did the switch while it was on. Worked like a charm.

Mini Dorky Overkill heatsink (from PC)

Direct press is above my ability to be safe for the diode. TEC, well I want to avoid drawing unecessary current as effeciency is a factor as these will be used on batteries. Wow I must sound so fussy. I will stop worrying and just drill a hole into a CPU heatsink. Thanks again.

Mini Dorky Overkill heatsink (from PC)

I will be running a 445 at about 1.5A for hours, hence my obsessing  So that should be fine with a fan. Thank you for your help.

Mini Dorky Overkill heatsink (from PC)

A question-- And sorry to revive an old thread but this avoids me posting a new one! Screwing into a copper mounting plate seems to work really well, with the back flush with the main sink surface like this one and you said it is the most efficient path. But surely there would be more surface...

Learn From Mistakes That Can Happen To Anybody...

I am hesitant posting this due to sheer embarrassment. But excitement can really get to me :p. First 445nm 1W porta build. Connected the diode externally first. Discharged the driver capacitors a million times (just to be sure). BUT... in my excitement I had forgotten to disconnect the battery...

    Silicone Wire! Dirt Cheap!

Wait.. Is someone upset that Mohrenberg is helping others for no fee? Maybe I am wrong, but always thought the point of these forums was exactly that; to help others. Edit: Whoops, did not realise that a particular comment was on first page. Guess this is irrelevant.

    Super Beast Green

Any luck with that Laser C? I once tried to get these sent to South Africa and I got a jumbled response - didn't get to follow up.

Installing secondary mode switch. New idea?

Cool project! In a labby you have much more space to work with though. I am wondering about handhelds specifically. I have been doing some experimenting with a modded driver working with lazeerer's ideas and think I may have a working solution. Just found something posted a while back where a...

Installing secondary mode switch. New idea?

Hi all. Has anyone ever thought about drilling a hole though a host to install an additional switch to toggle between power modes? Wanting to do something that was (hopefully) original I went to the hardware store and bought a very ugly switch to try this out. :) Very excited to get going...

NJG-18, multimode boost driver for 445nm.. and possibly 650nm

This is awesome!!! But it must be frustrating having to flick through every single one. Here's an idea ----> Has anyone ever thought about mounting a secondary external switch to toggle power between two power levels ie 1W vs 1.8W? I have never seen it done but maybe I have missed something...

    Super Beast Green

I totally appreciate your gesture. :yh: If someone has ever baked you something but couldnt help eating it, yet you still feel totally special even if you dont get the brownies.. well thank you! Thank you for the info, I did not know this. Tsk I thought they all were stated...

    Super Beast Green

I really wish I could do that and thanks for the suggestion. I'm fairly new here and I don't really have any people I know or trust. Plus I have nothing to offer them in return, excepting money of course... which is not exactly my strong point, hence me buying cheap green lasers. Catch 22...

Grargh I really wish these Super Beasts were shipped international! I understand IQS's reasons but I cant help feeling dissapointed.. :(

DISCOUNTED FS: Guidesman 18650 hosts - 2 LEFT!

Thank you. And that would be the "not used" pin in all those wonderful pinouts of 445's? Can't seem to confirm this, all I see is people bridging over two of them.

DISCOUNTED FS: Guidesman 18650 hosts - 2 LEFT!

These hosts are just wonderful! One question: Is the standard method of getting a wire attached to the wall of the host to drill a hole near the pill, insert a screw and then tighten? I do not have any sort of specialized soldering kit.. Is there no other way to do this that I have overlooked?

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

I also was thinking of this. I am planning something similar with bridging over the R27 (or equivalent) with 1ohm 1watt resistors like Lazeerer explained to get about 1.8A. HOWEVER I am planning to drill a hole near to the pill and install an additional switch. This will toggle the parallel...

    1N4001 diodes?

Yes, I did. It said the [x] did not matter when using 4 or 6 of them for a dummy. I did however wonder if there would be any kind of incompatibility in mixing and matching, as opposed to a solid 4x 1N400x where x is a FIXED value. Sorry if this might have been totally obvious to you, it...

Driver Mod For up to 1.8amps with 2x 3.7v or 3.0v cells

I was wondering the same thing. My limited electrical knowledge would assume a 1/4w would be sufficient MAYBE a 1/2w, we want to save space but let's see what Laz has to say.

    1N4001 diodes?

Would I be correct in assuming I could use 2x 1N4001 diodes and 2x 1N004 diodes for a dummy requiring 4 of these guys? ..Sorry to bring this old thread up but I figured it would be more ideal than making a brand new thread.

EFFORT for KipKay Flagging on YouTube

I disagree. This site at least makes an attempt to encourage the use of safety glasses. And although not everyone on this site is responsible as some of us, efforts with stickies have been made to prevent this happening as far as possible. It is clear that kipkay does not promote much safety...
