BDR 209 slight bump from dr

Yeah, that is a good price, I remember those were being sold at the old Stonetek store for $20+ each. That was one of the few sources of diodes before DTR became the "DiodeKing" that we all know and love:)

BDR 209 slight bump from dr

Yeah, This much power with single mode is impressive, but at 600mA don't be surprised if it blinks out on you.:cryyy: For me 500mA has given me a long run(cross fingers). With 600mA I had random failures, sometimes it would die after several short cycles as soon as I pressed the switch...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Ha! I used to do DIY beam expanders with pieces from telescope eyepieces and a Barlow lens holder to focus. I discovered it by accident while trying to replace a odd lens from 532. Yours looks awesome, though, mine was rigged with crudely tapped centering screws, reminded me of...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Man, that driver by X-woosee (weird name!) looks awesome! That would be perfect for this diode. I love that it can accept up to 12.6V (fully charged 3s lipo)! I don't recall a small driver being able to do that.

    Pioneer 16X BDR-209DBK

I absolutely love this diode. Being that its single mode, I love this when paired with a G2 lens. I can send a beam, probably 100 yards and still have a relatively small spot. Close up when focused to burn, its spot is extremely small and powerful, it looks like its a spot of white hot plasma...

NUBM44 6.15W After 3 Elements Glass Lens On Cypreus IIIb Modified Heatsink With JL BE

"every corner of the room scorched" Been there, done that! Awesome build! Love the magnet on the spring idea! I'd rep you if I had any rep points.;)

    New G7 lens for 445nm / 462nm / 520nm

I've noticed that with some of the 3 element lens's as well some are good and some suck. Checked that lens's were installed correctly and are tight. Ive also noticed the coatings are different, some have it and some dont???? When I mean no coating, I mean no coating. Im not mixing up coating...

    7 Watt NUBM44 MX900 Build

Man, Im still amazed by that spring being cut! Just a few years ago this would be sci fi stuff to be affordable and easy to build for us. I still need to get a diode to build one. What amazes me is the spring still glowing red hot after it falls. That's some serious energy being deposited...

    New G7 lens for 445nm / 462nm / 520nm

I'm glad that the optics side of the hobby is getting some more attention!:) I may have missed it but where can I purchase one of these lens's? Are the thin lens holders available for sale from anyone or is it DIY? :thanks: Chris

    New G7 lens for 445nm / 462nm / 520nm

These lens's look great!:thanks: Reminds me of the 2 element lens that was/is? sold by Olike, I liked them better than the 3 element, but they are harder to find. The difference is this new G7 looks to tighten the whole output of the diode compared to the 2 and 3 element lens clipping the...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Believe it or not, I've done it many times at probably half a meter away with no problems at all but its on maybe a few ounces. I can definitely understand your apprehension, some seriously hot stuff there, don't want to be the winner of a Darwin award! :scared: Probably also depends on...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Yeah, I heard that argument years ago on this forum. Strange how it was said that AL will dissipate quicker than copper if all other things are considered equal, didn't compute in my feeble mind. I guess I'll just try the AL heatsinks and see how it works.:thanks: I've tried the magnesium...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

All this talk of springs and such. I watched TaterMay's vid yesterday. Im not much of a burner but my mind was blown with this diodes focused beam cutting through a steel spring like it did. Sparks flying off like it was a cutting torch slicing it in seconds! :D Unfreakinbelievable! At...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Thats it! That's a freakin awesome mountain BTW. It just pops up out of nowhere. Can't stand all the PC crap nowadays either! Old printers have a bunch of springs and other good stuff as well. I have to go through my pile of junk for some. Thanks!;)

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Yeah, never thought about a dual spring setup, I'll have to try it. Good idea! I've always done the teflon tape thing, it's worked very well to keep a steady tight focus but I have to be careful with it though because of pieces falling on the window. I've ruined a decanned diode that way:oops...

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Nice comparison.:) With this wavelength I find that focusing at a distance is easy using a leaf. Some leaves are better than others, especially the ones that fluoresce a magenta (ish) color.

    NUBM44 6W+ 450nm Laser Diode

Jesus! I been busy with another hobby for the last few months and haven't checked out the laser scene. I stop by DTR's shop and see this diode. 7 freakin watts! Unbelieveable! The side by side comparison pic looks like the beam is a little tighter too. Narrower, like the A140's. It's...

    What was your first Laser?

My first laser was from Radio Shack. It was I bought it in 1992!:wtf: Man, I getting old! I think it was 89$ on sale! Wavelength is 670nm, not sure though? I still have it and it still works. It takes two 1/2 size AAA 1.5V batteries. NO BODY had a laser pointer back then, it was a lot of...
