Should i use magnets on flat tops?

Want to have fun? Mix iron oxide powder(stuff used for thermite) to silly putty then add a neodymium magnet. Lots of nerdy fun. Lol I use flux and a large iron with a lot of thermal mass to quickly solder a button on top of the flat. Need a clean freshly tinned tip and solder will bond in...

    Good green laser diode?

I'm actually quite impressed with the NUB 03 after removing the gball lens and using a two or three-element lens. The far-field profile is still a line but MUCH less than the gball or a g2 lens. Other than some kind of corrective optics that will take patience and skill to install and make...

    firm definition of dead thread

I agree. Very good way to put it. Even if the poster asks a question, assuming at least tried to scan through the thread, new knowledge may be out there.

    Optical coating question

I have a pile of unidentified lenses. Some are for red, some blue. Optical coating reflection varies . Some clear, some have a yellowish tint when viewed at an angle, some have a red hue(obviously those are for blueish wavelengths). What gives on the clear, crap or no coating?

Wolfram, you got me beat as a longtime member/low time poster. Lol! Actually you have more posts than I do but Ill get there in another few years.;) Mentioned this in another thread. The current group of posters here are enjoyable and drama-free, During the DX "true green" days and the...

FS: SKDRIVER for 7w, KDRIVER buck 2.6A, boost 1.1A, linear 0.8A

Bump... BTW, Im glad you guys gave encouragement vs ripping him a new one. Language /cultural barrier I suppose in responding to Pauls results. This place was rough back in the day. You would figure laser nerds are a decent bunch(which the guys here now are) but some real a holes circa...

Well this popped up out of nowhere! Beautiful!!! That's just one row? OMG!! Collimated it could be a colluder(pasta strainer) maker. Looks like heat pipes coming off your heatsink. Love the tape roll as a lens base. Lol! Gotta do what you gotta do.

You speak my language. LOLOLOLOL! Big lens to collimate /focus, several and its a DIY fusion reactor. Lol

Black buck 5.5A reverse polarity fuse location

Old post but just saw the Afrotech mods link. Good stuff he did with the vids. The guy behind the computer voice is named Timecop on RC Groups and several other sites. He was a major contributor to the open source multirotor flight controller caled multiwii. and was the force to port 8 bit...

Maybe Im having a brainfart but 26V at 1.8A would mean diodes arent in parallel(electrically). How many per driver??

    Sharp GH04W10A2GC 350mW 405nm

I agree. I been a slow but steady customer for years,I will only do business with him for diodes/lenses/drivers. Never got a bum deal and shipping is quick, real quick.

    NUBM31T 95W 455nm

That's what I figured. Where to find a driver. That heatsink is not portable but still neat. Definitely will need a TEC with a decent finned sink and fan blowing air to make it portable but still even as is If love to see it working

    NUBM31T 95W 455nm

Was going to say It looked like four rows of diodes each in parallel. If one diode pops then the remaining get more current??

    NUBM31T 95W 455nm

Question is how do you drive it???

    NUGM03 1W 525nm Laser Diode

Tough bugger like the A140. Took a lot to pop them but I always found a way. Unintentionally that is..Back on topic. No double posting so an edit a few days later. I am still super impressed with this diode. After decanning and using several lenses its a toss-up between the...

    NUGM03 1W 525nm Laser Diode

Double post but I think it deserves it's own. Sorry fellas! Absolutely in love with this diode after decanning. I'm fine with it's divergence with a 8yr old two element lens. I have a bag of lenses somewhere but can't find them ATM. I really could care less but will probably try others if I...

    NUGM03 1W 525nm Laser Diode

Just removed the gball. Real squeaker, tried a few methods but ended up doing the choice of last resort. Dremel cut off disc. Lol. It worked well I cut just deep enough to leave a small margin of metal as to not let abrasive into the cavity. A wiggle ot two and off it came. Lens is still...

Thanks again man! Yeah, I'll admit, after posting the large image I was like wow, thats some crap soldering! Lol! WTH was I thinking even posting it. Im usually much better, did this without a jewlers magnifier headset. At 45 vision sucks up close unaided! Believe it or not I go through...
