Have you thought about starting out with some 650-660nm Lasers, from my knowledge they tend to be cheaper and you can get LPC-826's and diodes alike (ML101u29 etc) although they get pretty costly after around the 300mW range, however if all you wish to do is pop balloons, light matches etc then...

Yes, most likely fake as the datasheet i was supplied was kinda sketchy, ill send em some more messages and see just how far the diodes can go.

I managed to grab a few SLD3134VF laser diodes which are supposedly 20mW 405nm diode that run at 35-50mA, however i tested a few diodes from the batch i got and i can run them at 100mA+ allowing these diodes to start burning if focused and they get very bright for 405, anyone had similar...

You can always buy a Complete Module then simply order the Host seperately, if by high power your just looking for something that produces a green beam when its dark you can always take your chances ordering some of the cheap Aussie stock from ebay that say "1mw Green..." usually about 8 bucks...
