Okay thanks for the explanation and endurance :D So I guess aixiz modules also just work with a single convex lense, and by moving the focal point into the center of the diode we get a nice low-mrad beam that is still capable of burning some stuff.

blue ray and 16x dvd lasers help

I see... 150mA is the regular "wuzz" current for burner diodes and 300mA is the current LPF users run burner diodes on 8-) So 300mA should be ok (with an eye on the temperature) with any harvested burner diode?

blue ray and 16x dvd lasers help

just found the sony dvd burner diode data sheet directly from stonetek... it says 150-170mA operating current... NOW I'm confused... If I harvest a diode from a dvd burner (like my old NEC that may be used for this) how do I find out how far I can go with the current for the diode without...

blue ray and 16x dvd lasers help

Thanks for the information. I cannot post links, but (just as example) people at "laser community" say 100-150mA... Of course I trust you more :D

blue ray and 16x dvd lasers help

Sorry for asking again, but is "the 16X RED diode" not the same thing as a red laser diode from a 16X DVD-burner? Or why do other people run their DVD-diodes with a maximum current of 150mA, if you tell me 300mA would be fine?

huh? dvd-burner-diode driven by 300mA current? I read 150mA maximum several times elsewhere...

    homemade optics

Technically (from the view of a physics student) converging and then parallizing (does that word exist??) should work. If I put the concave lens in front of the laser, the beam will diverge even more that it does without lenses. If I then add a convex lens in front of the concave lens, I could...

    homemade optics

hey! I am quite new to lasers, but I have understood everything about it. I plan to build a LM317-driven DVD-burner laser module. I have access to small glass lenses from old cameras, both concave and convex. Now I could not found a serious tutorial about building a optical system to archive a...
