Here ya go, I tend to buy from farnell quite a lot and I remembered they have an Australian division.
If they are anything like their UK equivalent expect instant shipping. :D Though it is not free...but hey you...
After checking out the link...
I would venture that these are the modules used in their 532nm pen lasers.
The first driver is identical to the one found within the pens, the module itself looks identical as well, down to the screw down backplate.
I must also agree with your post. I must admit I did not take into consideration the potential legal problems. Taking into account this issue I have no problems with restriction.
Restricting pertinent information from newcomers will accomplish nothing but fuel ignorance and dangerous behavior in no way will it make the hobby safer.
By keeping the sub-forum or at the very least its safety implications available to everyone who wishes to learn, we do our small part in...
Re: [SELL] 2 Wicked Lasers Saftey Goggles / Shades
Strange? Those goggles don't seem to match the AL2 datasheet?
190-449nm OD 5+
450-532nm OD 6+
AL2 datasheet states:
190-380nm OD 5+
400-532nm OD 2+
Can't seem to find a match for these ratings on the NoIR web-site?
The dot isn't great TBH, however I point at large distances and by then it doesn't really matter anymore. It is somewhat similar to the results jayrob got with it in the 445nm lens test, wings on the side. But it is somewhat expected since the short FL lens sucks up everything the diode pushes...
In twilight 800mW of 445nm blows 100mW of 532nm out of the water...
The beam is very very bright. I was very pleasantly surprised. Only thing green has going for it is better divergence and tighter beam specs.
Hemlock_Mike: I do remember the old days when the forum was starting out with PS3 diodes and 16x diode were normal, was still lurking back then. I remember shortly after I joined the first time I fired up a PHR-803T...thought it was broken (snowflake pattern :D)...paid >55$ for it IIRC. :) I was...
What I venture is that even though the coating is for the wrong wavelength, the very! short FL makes up for it. More photons are passing through the lens just due to its close proximity to the diode.
As for mounting...first I cut the plastic aixiz mounting nut to just above the "lens ridge"...
Having just finished building a bastard SONAR II, took out a great long wavelength 6X diode doing 211mW@195mA! with acrylic lens (257mW with 405-g-1) and replaced it with an LOC@512mA now doing 350mW...
I couldn't be happier.
I have always found BR diode lasers to be too much like flashlights...
I: 812mA
Po: 807mW
405-G-1
Was planning on plotting the diode...couldn't resist completing the build and seeing this new wavelength. Very nice indeed.
Will either take the build apart to plot or do it with the next diode.
