HiFi audio gear and components to trade for laser gear

Alright man, sounds good! When you check through your tube stash. Shoot me a PM when you are done. Think you mean the 5751 tube? I get great enjoyment from tube rolling, so also that would be welcome.

HiFi audio gear and components to trade for laser gear

Any nice 10" 16 ohm speakers? Any NOS EL84, 6bQ5? Any NOS ECC83? I would be interested in the above, would really help if you posted a list of what you actually have to trade. I have a ton on lasers, which I do not use, more of a guitar player than an audiophile but am not looking for...

    the LEGENDARY TRAX thread

A classic from one of my favorite bands. ny7vW6dgnUY Another great one: _FhCilozomo CCR: iP3TTGuddjY Waaay to many to list...:)

    what component is this?

My first suggestion would be to bust a DMM and measure. However, if you don't have one available then DTRs suggestion is right on. The bands are a visual representation of the resistance. Here is a nifty calculator. http://www.dannyg.com/examples/res2/resistor.htm Otherwise, the blue disc is a...

    Tesla coil

Yeah, thats one I built a while ago. Small desktop drsstc. HV is a great hobby.

    Tesla coil

Nice coils man. One correction though, it is dual resonant solid state tesla coil. Due to the matched primary.

    Cool Avatars?

Yeah, what proto said. Or, if you are bored/have some spare time, create on yourself, it is quite simple to do in photoshop.

Nice ass, err assembly. Nice work finished product looks good.

    Post your youtube account

In my sig. Nothing laser related though, only HV projects.

    Hehe, schooled.

Hah, indeed. :) I used to keep at least one high power laser in my car so that if the right foggy night presented itself I could blast away. Never did take a laser to a party though. I tend to be a careless drunk and would probably let some douche/douchette use it, which could end badly for me...

    Hehe, schooled.

Alright this is the story. I've been living in an apartment since the end of summer in Nice (moved for post-grad), to be honest haven't even fired up my lasers since coming here. Came home quite tipsy tonight and I was relaxing on my balcony. All of a sudden a low power 532nm (estimate...

    WTS Brand new phone!

Exactly. Never again will I buy an LG phone. Don't get me wrong it never broke down, but the damn thing would just loose signal downtown and would even reject (as if phone was off) calls when it had full signal, which ened up causing plenty of problems for me. A cellphone can have all the cool...

Is something approaching 1W of 532nm possible in a big handheld ?

Eudamonium: Yes...I calculated the required input power to achieve an output of 5W, based on the 6A figure provided by you... Believe it or not but there is a whole world of brand name 18650 cells available out there (LG, Samsung etc...), which do come in in the capacity I mentioned and...

Is something approaching 1W of 532nm possible in a big handheld ?

Going to have to disagree on the battery part, Eudamonium. An IR diode has a Vf of ~1.8V, which at a current draw of 6A=10.8W. In general 18650 batteries are rated at 2C, decent quality ones handle 2C without sweat. So lets take a 2800mAh 18650 battery, 4.2v at full charge X 5.6A = 23.52W...

    I just bought a Sennheiser HD650

Nice purchase OP. I've heard the HD650s and they are very nice indeed. Nice so see so many SQ conscious members on the forum. ;) Running a pair of AKG K240 phones ATM. Use them mainly for guitar late at night though. (Nice equipment Traveller, been eyeing the Grado SR225 for a while now, too...

If You've Actually Received Your Spyder III Arctic - Post Here

I have noticed this as well. The arctic beam in my case seems to be of a much higher wavelength and produces a distinctly "bluer" beam. I think what we are seeing is the ~+-10nm wavelength variation typical of these and blu-ray (GaN) diodes. However, in the case of blu-ray that wavelength...

Has anyone successfully dismantled their Wicked Arctic?

Yep took it apart. Posed a couple pics somewhere around here. Couldn't take the whole thing apart, but if you unscrew the diodes module you can peek into the inside at the driver. Based on the pictures on their facebook page, of the production line, I have come to the conclusion that the upper...

Lasers aren't the only dangerous thing thats fun to play with... try high Voltage!

Great work, on the plasma speaker. HV is fun (or was it dangerous?), indeed. :)

    Should I buy Aixiz goggles?

I would have absolutely no problem trusting aixiz. Rest assured they are a very professional and trustworthy company.

If You've Actually Received Your Spyder III Arctic - Post Here

Re: Arctic: Spyder III: Review Outside the threads are identical the Aixiz nuts. The assembly is identical to the aixiz on the outside, but...whats important is the inside. If your retainment ring has the two little holes, I would suggest swiss army knife scissors, work like a treat. :D
