Tell me everything i should know about Iowa

Farming is the main business in Iowa. It is rolling hills in the east and flat in the west. Iowans tend to be very down-to-earth, and easy going. The largest cities are located along I-80 the main highway through Iowa. Fortunately, it is only about 150km from Des Moines. Your friend will do fine...

'Tis a Sad State of Affairs

Sorry to hear of this Dave. Let me know what I can do to help. (You know, a .45 for retribution, my old M-9 bayonet for up close and personal satisfaction.) Sorry, cannot offer a specific course of action on an electronic medium.

    Belgian costums (thieves!!)

Umm, have you talked with the customs department? Perhaps they could shed some light on the subject. If not, perhaps they might open an investigation into the theft if that is the case.

Sorry just trying to help you out. Your Class IIIb labels have the Class IIIa warning statement on them. Class IIIb should state, per FDA requirements, AVOID DIRECT EXPOSURE TO BEAM.

    Great war movies?

My absolutely favorite war movies are the films where the plot just happens to be set in war. The original MASH (Gould, Sutherland, Skerritt) is an example of this. One of my all time favorites is The Dirty Dozen with Lee Marvin. Sure the last half is about executing the skills learned in the...

I need googles for the IR region

    The mode and ratings are the CE certification information. D = Continuous Wave lasers (>0.25 sec) I = Pulsed lasers (1us - 0.25 sec) R = Short pulsed mode (1ns - 1us) M = mode locked lasers (<1ns pulse) L1-L10 is the OD, L1 is OD1, L10 is OD10

    Black Holes???

Black holes are actually very well understood. Basic calculus provides the necessary mathematics to calculate the Schwarzschild radius of any given black hole mass. There are other relativistic conditions that must be accounted for such as frame dragging in a rapidly rotating black hole but it...

    Laser Energy distribution

w0 is the beam waist radius. The waist size is a function of the hemispherical OC mirror (and HR if it is not flat) and the resonator length, and is located within the resonator. It is used to determine the active area of the resonator which is directly related to the number of transverse...

    US Navy Fail.

The carrier sits in the middle of the battle group. If a lighthouse is asking a carrier to divert course then the cruisers and destroyers out front would have already hit the light house. The E-2 Hawkeye radar planes (looks like propeller driven AWACS) would have known about it long before the...

    60W CO2 Tube

This tube is 1250mm by like 54mm. The tubes delivered today are not mine. One is going to a customer and the other is going into inventory. They will still need to be tested, however.

    60W CO2 Tube

I knew CO2 tubes were big but somehow I didn't think in my mind that a 60W tube was this big (4ft tube).

    JDSU 2214ML Test Run Photos

the ML in the designation is multi line but at idle the only line resonating is the 488nm line. When I crank up the amperage it'll put out more lines.

    JDSU 2214ML Test Run Photos

Here's the first coherent light from a JDSU 2214-40MLA argon laser I pulled from a PerkinElmer 377 96-Lane DNA sequencer. Here is the power supply for the system. This is not the original power supply that came with the sequencer. This one runs natively on 110VAC: If you want to run one of...

    JDSU 2114ML Cooling Question

Hey, I need the expertise of you argon guys. I'm about to fire up a JDSU 2114ML but I don't have the cooling fan available for use at this time. My goal is just to get the tube to light and see that it works. Can I fire up the unit without the forced air from the cooling fan?
