That's exactly what I see. I've had a few which were worse than others.

Im thinking the edge of the beam is hitting the side of the opening of the can. I think a couple of people have de-canned theirs. If so, and you see this post, do yours have those lines? not that it matters.. I did try to un-can one of mine, and ended up w/ an led. I won't be trying again!

I made a post a couple of months ago asking about a beam artifact from my B.R.   Every diode Ive tried has done this.  i couldn't get a good photo, and tried to explain it.  The topic was just sort of dismissed.  A couple of people said they couldn't get a good focus, but no one really...

This isn't a direct answer to your question, but people have been yanking the lasers out of optical media drives for many many years to use for their DIY projects. It's just a very small step forward to disassemble a blu-ray vs a dvd-rom.

Have you noticed the output drop at all? I don't have a power meter, so can't do my own testing. I used to be into the super bright LED's when they were first being introduced (luxeon's) and I know those steadily decrease in output. They may level off, but the first several days of running them...

They were close friends... but still. Once the alcohol gets flowing, anything can happen. I've been a laser enthusiast since I was in highschool 16 years ago, and these were friends I've had since then. We all know to keep it away from eyes :) I was running it at 150ma before this latest...

Well... each time I have to rebuild my laser, I get a little more ballzy.   I brought mine to a party last weekend, and too many people wanted to play w/ it.  It got dropped, people tried unscrewing the top (mxdl build) and twisted it around.  It worked that night, but not the next day.  A leg...

The mixed color would not be coherent. Each color still would be, but if you put it through a prism or something, it would separate the blue and red, and you'd have a spot of each.

Actually, I came up with 137503 times, but who's counting....... And yes, pay attention to the plants that keep asking you by name, to feed them. Good friend of mine lost his left leg because he didn't give the plant what it wanted.

Whew.. You'd think I'd have learned that lesson by now, but I keep making that same mistake. I'd bet a lot of us here are in the same boat :)

I've noticed people buying 5, 10, 20, etc, drives or diodes, so I'm sure you're building a few lasers to sell. I've got a couple of extra diodes and would love to build a nice laser to sell, to maybe get back a little of the money I've spent on this. So, Where do people sell high powered...
