    3405 Host Makes A Great 445 Build!

DTR, we may have to meet somewhere if you get that power meter :)

FS: Full Colour Driver Extension for the White Fusion kit

pp'd the money to you this morning, thanks. Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, hoping I'll be able to get a white fusion heatsink/sled @ some point....

line gen - optics vs spinning mirrors

I've got a couple of polygon scanner mirrors, but they're relatively huge... for a hand held. Maybe there are smaller ones.. I can't really judge the size of the one Ramsey's got. And Ramsey, I'd probably try to mound it to a regular DC motor, rather than use the stepper it's got.

FS: 18650 Build Kit! Easy Assembly! 445nm, Blu-ray, or Red...

needle nose pliers! I was trying to use 2 nails, and all sorts of other things w/out luck. And, it fixed it. Thanks a lot.

FS: 18650 Build Kit! Easy Assembly! 445nm, Blu-ray, or Red...

My host has developed an issue w/ the switch. It doesn't work when screwed in.. It used to work when I loosened it a little. Now it has to be almost all the way unscrewed to turn on. Can't figure it out! There was a bunch of aluminum oxide in the threads that I washed off and it might have...

line gen - optics vs spinning mirrors

shoot, actually, some day I hope to use this w/ a whitefusion, so ill want the scanning action for the line... rather than just changing colors as it would w/ a glass optic, it will actuallty draw a line w/ different colors along the lenght of the line, w/ the mirror setup... Guess thats what...

line gen - optics vs spinning mirrors

And, it seems to me that having the spinning mirror, both sides reflective (or I could even build a little square w/ 4 mirrors or somteing) would be less lossy than a glass optic, but im not sure... Its for a 1watt 450, if that makes any difference.. Im all for easy and small so the glass...

line gen - optics vs spinning mirrors

I want to build a line generator for a hand held laser.. would I be be better off w/ spinning mirrors, or a glass optic? Space isn't really a concern, as I was going to build a 3 motor spiro into this.. so, either option will be smaller than my original plan. I guess, which has the least...

    445nm Brick!

I started to catch the cabinet on the other side of the room on fire. It's white pine, so I thought it was light enough to be safe.. Nope..

Cylindrical correction optics for 445, 638

Jayrob, Do you think you'll be able to come up w/ a mount for these that fits on the 18650 host? :) Lava, I'm down for a lava II.. You're only discussing those on PL, right? I need to sign up over there.. Next logical step in the hobby is a RGB scanner...

    *445nm lasers* !GB-Closed!

Re: *445nm lasers* !diodes 38.50$! Thanks! It really doesn't matter when I get them, is why I deleted the question.. I've already got more diodes than lenses and heat sinks.

steppers in spiro for precise control?

As far as how it's controlled, the stepper controller hooks to the motor.. but the stepper controller needs a controller of its own.. Feeding it pulses. I'm old and analog, and can build a little circuit to generate the PWM. But, it would probably make more sense for someone to write...

steppers in spiro for precise control?

I don't want to do the galvo thing.. I mean, some day I will purchase them.. they're cheap enough now. I want a precisely controlled spiro. I've noticed the good patterns have to do w/ harmonic frequencies.. Like, the motors buzz when they spin.. and when its drawing a good shape, the 3...

    AixiZ 445nm lens...

Then you got a red lens, too.. It should reflect blue, and pass red.. so the reflections off the lens will be blue, and the light going through the lens will be more red (or brown/yellow).

    AixiZ 445nm lens...

Mine is a red for sure.. The anodizing looks the same, and it has the same 2 glue or marker spots.. Maybe someone messed up the ebay orders. a little more waiting.............

Laser diode thermal regulation / potting

how hot can these diodes get? How hot do they run in the projectors? I know 1watt+ LED's run HOT in many of their applications. (under counter and store display lighting, etc) (I'd compare the heat to an incandescent lightbulb.. The heat sink will sizzle a wet finger in many cases)...

steppers in spiro for precise control?

I've been thinking it would be fun to have extremely precise control of a spiro. You could even do math with it, and dial up specific patterns! (like, #1 rotating at 80rpm, #2 at 160rpm #3 at 120rpm). And, having the speed STICK is a concern, too. Even w/ PWM, regular DC motors drift around...

    AixiZ 445nm lens...

Be patient.. They'll make it right, but right now they still need to figure out what is going on. More calls and emails and RMA's, etc, might slow things down. (I do plan on sending a nice email that says hey, I think I got the wrong coating, let me know when you get it sorted. But, will...

    AixiZ 445nm lens...

Boo :( Earlier I noticed a 650-g-1 lens made this 445 laser heat up quickly compared to the temporary acrylic. I guess from the internal reflections. This new aixiz lens seems to do the same thing. I wish I had an infra-red thermometer type thing to verify this. (my hands aren't very...
