2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

yeah i agree, especially to make it small enough to fit in an aixis module :P it might be a good idea to find another switching chip, one that will work down to around 1.5 or 2V, so 2x ni-mh will work ok

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

well as you said in post 5... its only worth it if you want to heat sink it or install it in a grounded metal case, like a flashlight

    Protection from your Protection Cap

ditto anyone reading this, if you have trouble soldering, GET SOME FLUX it helps a LOT.. even though solder comes with flux in the core, its way better to apply flux before soldering soldering flux just makes the solder stick and flow to anything it touches, it is the best thing since sliced...

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

the main reason i mentioned the zetex component is because it is in a SOT23 package which is tiny, and it doesn't require any other components or only one extra resistor

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

huh? are you talking about a blueray burner? 2 AA's should have worked, they would only need to supply around 250ma to drive this circuit at 110ma @ 4.7V

    Protection from your Protection Cap

well if there is a flaky connection, people should learn how to solder, or use some flux to clean the joint beforehand. adding a resistor is not a very good solution. however the pcb idea between the leads is nice, and that idea in its self ensures that no damage will be done with flaky connections

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

what voltage are those 405nm diodes? make sure the input voltage is less than the diode voltage another thing you could do is have multiple diodes in series as long as the total diode voltage is around or under 8V
  8. W

    Protection from your Protection Cap

how can a capacitor kill a diode when its hard wired to the diode like you suggest? it might be a good idea to have a 1k or so resistor on the actual driver board, as the caps on the driver board would be the ones that damage your diode. having a resistor soldered directly across the diode is...

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

its basically 'Design Example 7' from the lm3410 datasheet. but without the flash control. lm3410 circuits are pretty straight forward. one improvement is to add a opamp for a grounded diode, would be necessary for a torch mod unless you can insulate the case from the body of the torch. if you...

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

yup. i decided the sepec design was pointless for blue-ray's and only one inductor allows it to be a lot smaller. now i have used up all of my lm3410's.

    DONE *** Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB... *** D

Re: DONE *** Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB... *** D we need more power!!! i plucked up the courage to turn up the power to 35mA, is the general guide Ith+10mA? well i am confident enough to run it off my micro smps driver now :) http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1209911140

Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits hey drlava, is the ground pin on the diode at ground potential? ie, are the two ground pins connected together? and you wanna post a schematic?

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

yeah, its not that hard to make these things. all thats needed is a laser printer, transfer paper, cloths iron and etchant for making the pcb's and a toaster oven and smd soldering paste for 're-flow' soldering (its the only way to solder a chip with no pins) (can be done for under $40 if you...

    Why I shoudn´t use a resitor + 2 NiMH ?

I don't think we have any mods, so this topic is staying where it is. its a lesson for others anyway. to put the answer another way, Ohms law is the law, but batteries are not a very constant voltage source, basically its a sucky way of powering your laser, and there are so many better ways...

2xAA blue ray driver (fits in aixis)

I got my blueray going without killing it and soon got sick of it being effectively a "labby" because of all the batteries and large 311 driver. and i couldn't find a case big enough. anyway, some of you might remember the thread on using a smps with the lm3410 this driver uses the same chip...

    DONE *** Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB... *** D

Re: DONE *** Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB... *** D w00t my sled came today!! AND i managed NOT to screw it up yet. its in a module running 30.5ma @ 4.28V, threshold was around 30ma i am sorta scared to push it much higher than that. the optics in the sled are pretty cool, there is a servo...

    DONE *** Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB... *** D

Re: DONE *** Feb. 9, 2008  NEW BluRay GB... * i really hope customs don't look closely at my order. I am in Australia and because of stupid people pointing lasers at planes (WHY would you do that???) its been ruined for everyone else. I don't think they have been banned yet though. edit: high...

its russian... from what i can gather he is getting paid to post this crap on hundreds of forums. why don't these threads just get deleted?

    Romisen L-A030 30mW Mini Green Laser (CR123A 3.6V)

Re: Romisen L-A030 30mW Mini Green Laser (CR123A 3 so why is a trustfire 850mah more expensive than a ultrafire 1000mah, both protected. all the batteries from DX look very dodgy i guess what i want to know is which dx batteries are the best quality. ie, have decent capacity and can supply...
