Casio seems to be potting projectors

Uh, duh. Of course they care, and not in a positive way. Morons and idiots raising hell with 2 watt handhelds may well lead to these devices being more tightly regulated or banned. That's going to hurt their bottom line or worse. Especially if people like C*sio end up getting sued, even if...

Casio seems to be potting projectors

well, it's not surprising manufacturers would take these measures, assuming this is true. think about it. they likely do not want to make it easy for DIYers and whippersnappers to get access to a 2 watt laser diode.

    XJ-A150 News

So what kind of diode are people hoping to 'harvest' from these? Sounds like to get green light they are passing blue light through some sort of phosphor, rather like how white LEDs pass the light from a blue diode through a phosphor to make white.

200mW of green for $125 shipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A considerable amount of green for ~125.00! How can they sell these so cheap? Pump diodes are not very expensive these days, nor the drive electronics. Perhaps some refinements have been made manufacturing the crystal sets which do the magic of converting the pumps 808nm output to 532nm...

How to build an Arctos multi diode array

Far as obtaining a patent on this process.. well it seems a bit ridiculous to me - how many different ways are there to go about doing this? That's just the nature of the game for these niche appliances I guess. I can imagine ways to bring all the individual spots to a tighter focus within a...

How to build an Arctos multi diode array

right, that's what I was asking. i was just wondering if there was an additional displacement on each spot after being formed into into a grid (apparently not). so you're creating an 'artificial' spot bit by bit. Meant no disrespect by comparing to burning laser!

How to build an Arctos multi diode array

I'll do some more reading when I've got time. This is an excellent idea for a projector, however if I understand this correctly it wouldn't make an outstanding burning laser.

How to build an Arctos multi diode array

Still trying to understand the concept. I see that you are ordering all the individual laser spots into some sort of grid. Two parallel grids actually, one of which gets it polarization flipped (90 degree offset between fast and slow diode axis.. or 180??). At that point I'm not certain what's...

LOC build in a project box

Heat sink? That's something I ordered from Meredith lasers - brass mounting block ($5.00): Meredith Instruments : Mounting Block for LDC-1 & 2 [LDC-MB-1] - $5.00 - The source for laser surplus The Meredith diode housing and lens assembly fits above heatsink. (glass) Meredith Instruments : Laser...

How to build an Arctos multi diode array

I think it's a very impressive bit of work!! Seems a very pragmatic way to get a lot of red. However combining dozens of 1/10 to 1/5 watt diode lasers to get 5-6 watts of red this way must be a lot of work. You do get quite a bit of redundancy though - even if a few of the diodes expire during...

Fire Safety with Lithium and Lithium Ion batteries

There's a relatively new lithium battery chemistry that's now making significant 'commercial' inroads. Lithium Iron Phosphate. Lithium iron phosphate battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The energy density is not quite as high as Li-ion, however LFP batteries have two big advantages over...

LOC build in a project box

Good work! looks similar in style to my first red laser build which is still going strong after more than a year. I'm using an lm317t based current regulator, radioshack parts and project box. I think the key to a long life is not to overpower the diode -- 125mA of current to the 16x Sony...

DX Dilda 200 mW DEAD after 1 week lol

Another tragic case of diode abuse and death. These laser diodes are very fussy little creations, and require some sort of regulated power supply to ensure a long life. Just plugging them 'into the mains' is not a good idea. Do some reading around here.

(Correction - NOT DPSS) Red DPSS Module On E-bay

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay well, i dunno. if i were to hazard a guess i'd agree with wannburnstuff - this unit is operating too efficiently to be some sort DPSS rig. it's likely just another mislabeled red diode laser. i can't recall, but I believe 532nm green DPSS units are the most...

Video: 1 Watt Pocket Blue Laser Beam from Eiffel Tower

Re: Video: 1 Watt Pocket Blue Laser Shining Down from the Eiffel Tower I don't think the beam was unfocused.. rather it had expanded as it traveled (several hundred meters?) to camera. {edit} perhaps a bit reckless to do this.. however after traveling for > 200 meters the beam has diverged to...

    ~1.5W 445nm Laser Burning Things

lol.. fire! fire! excellent video. i like the section where you burn through 5 cd cases then light a match. the 1+ watt blue handheld lasers make nasty little stingers.

Looking to buy 5mW Military Grade Green Laser Pointers

I recommend z-bolt. Here's selection of green laser pointers: Green Laser Pointer and Laser Accessories from Z-Bolt&#174 'military' stuff Home BTMK-10 Tactical Green Laser - M4/M16 Weapons Mounted If the pointers don't last at least you can exchange/ warranty them.

Nichia to Ship Green Diode Laser

I want one of these new green laser diodes. Bad. About 20-50 mW would be perfect. I like lasers I can play with and not have to worry about destroying my eyes. As others have already mentioned this wavelength may be quite impressive at night. I wonder how much they'll cost initially? It may be...

250mW red laser diode Death in a week

Congrats on your first build. If you are using a DVD diode I don't know of many that are going to have a long life when you push 300 mA through them.. Some might last a few hours, most wont. If you want the diode to last try less than 200mA of current. Yeah I know it will not burn as well...
