How big is too big? Maybe this one is? Doesn't matter trinh hong phuoc will build it :)

That really stretches credulity on what is considered a handheld laser. It really looks more like a lab laser on a stick.

    658nm 1.2W Single mode

Yeah, that can't be a single mode laser diode, Thanks for that information, Tero. That typo should have stated it as a TO-5, 9 mm diode.

    Politics and General Debates Thread

While Moscow Mitch has spun this impeachment trial as being the same as Clinton's trial without witnesses or documents because Ken Star,Trump's lawyer had actually worked to bring witnesses and documents before the American people when he was investigating Clinton and now is part of Trump's...

    658nm 1.2W Single mode

That is a lot of power for a single mode laser diode. I'm assuming that is the rated power and not just what someone was able to push one to its limit. I wonder if it is really a single mode diode at all. Do you have the manufacturer and part number?

How big is too big? Maybe this one is? Doesn't matter trinh hong phuoc will build it :)

Oh, Jees! At some point it will just be too long. You could use it for hitting baseballs. :ROFLMAO:

These FAP lasers were never designed to be stand alone devices. They were designed to pump, usually end pumped, DPSS lasers. They are far more than just one diode too. Many 808nm diodes fiber optically coupled together to pump usually a Nd:YAG or Nd:YVO4 crystal. Then you need another crystal to...

Wow! Looks like you can get at least 6 26650s or18650s into that long battery holder. I hope one of these will be able to give you a multi-watt 532nm laser. But, you are likely right about its run time being very short.

If it will push this through you can add anther to my order making it two lens pairs. If not, just leave it the way it is. Thanks.

2 watt laser from scratch parts

Survival Lasers offers hosts that you can buy. You also have the option of having one made for you by members here like Lifetime17, Trinh Hong Phoc, and if you aren't in the US I believe Grainde may still have some available from Sinner who used to make some of the best hosts we had before he quit.

Thermal paste around press fit aixiz?

That is just unnecessary. None of these hosts have openings so tight you would ever need to do that. I'm unaware of any pressed to fit the module type hosts that I posted about being offered by anyone now.

just a few questions for a build

They come as either square lenses or circular and expand only one axis of the beam making to more of a square than a line. Google it to find out more.

    Safety concern involving 650nm laser

You have heard wrong. Even the small fraction of IR content is following the same path as the visible beam until it diverges. That divergence makes it completely eye safe. It becomes a cone around the visible beam and only a fraction of its power could ever reach someone's eye. You should be far...

Thermal paste around press fit aixiz?

Sinner used to make hosts that you actually had to press the module into. That did make for the best contact, but made reusing the host a real pain. I have an MS-SSW-II with an NDB7875 pressed into it that once the diode fails I will have to get it out to reuse it. Not looking forward to that.

Being on the west coast I don't get to see as many of these that my friends in the east do. But, I have seen enough to know that there is far too much of it now.

Actually, if you took the time to watch the testimony in the House impeachment inquiry you would know that the evidence against Trump is overwhelming already. In the month long delay in transferring the Trump's impeachment to the Senate we have heard from Lev Parnas who corroborated much of the...

    Osram pl520. Ebay host.

That looks like a lot of copper for a small amount of waste heat. Well, better safe than sorry. Nice job.
