    Help finding Long Distance Laser

Oh, that's better. I have watched NOVA for many years and this just didn't sound like something they would waste time and resources on. The Discovery Channel has changed hands over the years and I can see them doing this. I don't watch them any more, so I would have likely missed this.

What batteries should I get for this laser

All my cells from Liionwholesale.com come almost completely discharged because, if the package is broken and the cells are punctured, they are less likely to catch fire or explode than fully charged batteries. Even the unprotected cells come with ~3.4 volts on them. My experience with these are...

The spring that fits between the lens housing and the diode in the module will work as it is smaller in diameter than the 9 mm lens housing. The slotted side is never used as that is the side that goes toward the focus ring. There are two types of springs I have seen. The old one is longer, but...

    DTR's Reviews/Tutorials/Modifications Compilation

If you just have to use such a tiny heat sink, I would at least use copper. It won't give you more surface area, but will give you more thermal conductivity. I would seriously reconsider such a small host for this build.

There are still members waiting to receive their original purchases. I expect the numbers will increase in a week or so.

    Problem with DILAS laser

You will need to get a terminator for the fiber output so you can add a lens to collimate the output. What do you have planned for this 974nm laser? I don't know that I would try to push this all the way to 50 amps, but it really depends on what you are going to do with it.

    DTR's Reviews/Tutorials/Modifications Compilation

Mine has a large aluminum heat sink that gets warm to the touch at 1 minute of run time. The mass of a 22 mm aluminum heat sink is much smaller and will heat up much faster. But, it is your decision. I just wanted to warn you as you could lose an expensive diode and driver.

    Problem with DILAS laser

If you have a CV/CC supply the diode will only pull the current it is set for at the Vf of the diode array which could be higher than the data sheet you have for it. It may not even be the right data sheet. I would allow the diode to run at whatever voltage it wants to as long as you keep the...

    Jnrpop´s collection

If you put your NDG7475 diode and driver in a Mech Mod you will have very short run times as the heat sink isn't large enough to remove all the waste heat it will put out. Also, 18350s are small batteries with not much capacity, so you might want a host that can take two larger batteries.

I have an 1100 mW 520nm laser and I can tell you from experience that it produces a fair amount of waste heat. I put mine in an old sinner host, MS-SSW-II and powered it with two 26650 batteries. You won't want to put yours into a small host as it needs to expel a lot of heat. Maybe a copper...

    Help finding Long Distance Laser

Do you know what year this NOVA was made? I know Hawking is dead now and it's hard to believe they went to this amount of trouble to prove the earth isn't flat. ROTF.

Curtis that conversation on the Flat Earth Society site is painful to read. It is true that people in this country are not becoming more educated.

    cell fone Q

I wonder if the service provider for your new phone doesn't have a cell tower near you. That, or the phone is defective.

You can see from your first photo that the lens is closer to the side facing the camera. This is the correct way. If you cannot screw the lens in far enough it will never collimate because the FL of these lenses is very short. Less than 3 mm. Take the focus ring off and screw it in further, but...

A Buck driver can accept either one or two batteries as long as the Vf of your laser diode is lower than a single Li-ion cell like a red diode. But, different diodes need different drivers and different cells as some require little current and others, quite a lot. If you are using a boost...

    Help!!my paypal is limited

The easiest way around this is to have two email accounts. Use only one for PayPal and the other for your sales stuff. Just create a new email account and change your PP one to the new one. I have more than one email address for different uses. I couldn't make out everything on the pages you put...

    490 blue beauty

I don't understand what you mean. That lens can be screwed into the module from either side, so it is possible to put the lens in backwards. If you look at your G2 lens housing you will see the lens is at one side. That is the side that should go in first toward the diode. Once you do get it...

What batteries should I get for this laser

The Opus charger won't over charge or discharge any of your batteries. You needn't worry about that. Even unprotected cells won't over discharge on the Opus. Make sure you test the dynamic internal resistance of your fully charged batteries. They should measure around 50 to 70 mOhms. Once your...

    Post your random pics!

Your camera made that look more like a 405nm laser than a 445nm one. That happens sometimes. We have been having rain every day this week here in western Washington. At the moment it has stopped, but it will likely start up again before the day is over.
