Received the drivers from OP. I have to apologize though as I will not be able to properly test or report on these drivers. These are my results so far...
Driver #1-
Unfortunately one of the drivers that I bought arrived DOA. Upon hooking up the driver to a test load, I was getting ZERO output...
Re: My violet 405nm 1000mA , diode JDSU405
Casualty #2 on the JDSU 405 diode.:scowl:
After a loooong wait time.. I finally received the JDSU "1w" 405 from the OP. The driver that was sent to me with/for the diode was defective so unfortunately I had to wait another couple days for a driver...
To test the drivers output going to the diode, you would need a test load to simulate the equivalent voltage drop of the diode being used. It sounds like the way you measured was measuring the drivers input current.
I dont have the exact one but have a driver very similar to the one listed in the OP, same PCB and layout. The one I have is also a boost driver but for 520 diodes (this one) and surprisingly its been very reliable and even has a soft start.
The only thing I didn't take into account when buying...
Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please
If it's like the (2) that I have, they have a 3.8mm diode inside, probably a bdr205/206 or similar, at least with mine. Definitely a single mode diode and it should be 500mw the same sellers also sell a 300mw...
Theres been alot of people getting scammed on the forum the past year or so, and I know myself and some others can sometimes get a little weary and call BS when something sounds a little odd. But in the end all is good brotha!
Ain't nobody got time, ain't nobody time, ain't nobody got...
That's kind of how I took the situation, at least from our conversations. At first I was skeptical as well, but then started thinking why would Alex go through all the work to pose as his bro and make different accounts, email, PP and even using different a different home address. Why not just...
The last I checked he still has stock on some of the finishes he used to carry. But obviously all the good ones are sold out.:yabbmad: I know I asked him a while back about chrome finish pen and he told me about the 300 number and I definitely cant swing buying that many so I opted for...
Yeah those laser66 are nice when done right! Pain in the butt to assemble, well the one I built was but only because the driver I used was very long so squeezing everything in was a fingers crossed moment. Also I see Lifetime is making some nice brass knobs that should look brilliant with a...
You have some awesome lasers in your collection Bob! It seems that most of the good ones that have popped up lately you have snatched up! Good for you man!
Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please
That's literally an hour away from where I am. But unfortunately idk what I'd do with it ATM. :(
I bet since I could pick it up that the seller would take ALOT less too. Dang
Re: LPM availability in SoCal?
The problem with that LPM is the resolution. It's only .1 W. I asked the seller a while back if he sold an LPM with resolution of 1mw and he said the components would be too expensive for him to do it.
Idk where at in SoCal that your located but there looks to...
Definitely will do! If it's a working unit even under $1k wouldn't be too bad. Though with my luck, I would buy something that would need over a grand in parts alone, but damn would it be fun!
Not this guy! :na: lol The only real battle on that purchase would be between me and my wallet lol.
Currently the biggest problem with me moving forward on a YAG project is the location where I'm living, I don't have the space to store everything properly when im not working on it nor the...
Yeah a little steep for me, but definitely bet I can find over $7000 worth of enjoyment with it. Lol wait that makes it worth it then.. right?
You never know, it could be nice. I'll stay tuned for that cause now im very curious. I don't really know how much a fan will do on the exterior of the laser but maybe they know something I don't.
I still would be willing to give them another try on a 1.5w+ 532 unit, but not until their track record gets better. I personally don't see all the issues im having fixed with the new host, but the things they're adding/changing is definitely going in the right direction.
That's definitely not what I was expecting it to look like lol... very interesting looking none the less
Edit: Oh nvmd, I guess it looks like that, idk what I was thinking
