    Survival Laser Open Thread

Sorry for the long delay in response, apparently I am no longer receiving emails when someone replies to a thread that I'm subscribed to. I had a chance to test the boost driver prototypes but had to send them back to the designer for more work. I'll report when I am able to run some successful...

    Survival Laser Open Thread

Rich/Lifetime17 has suggested that we offer adjustable current boost drivers, so I looked into it and decided that we will have some prototypes made and get them into production once tested and approved. They will be in 16.8mm round and approx. 10 x 16mm rectangular form factors. Let me know if...

7W+ Survival Laser S4X Host w/NUBM44 diode and 4.5A SXD Tutorial

The S4X configuation as described in this thread works pretty well for absorbing and transferring the heat of the 44. Of course it can be improved upon as suggested by several of the members here.

7W+ Survival Laser S4X Host w/NUBM44 diode and 4.5A SXD Tutorial

It is not compatible in the current configuration. I have plans to design a 20mm adapter for this host but have not found the time to do it yet.

I would heat sink them at over 1.8A. Yes, heat sink the side with the two controllers. I mount them to our heat sink driver pill like this: This picture shows a prototype driver with two pots, but the one pot on the production driver is easily accessible in this configuration.
