    Free Spectra-Physics 125 + Power Supply - Livingston, NJ.

Yeah, they're soft seal, but they are fairly robust overall, most of the ones i've seen that are still in service work fine. might need a little cleaning though. I'd give it a good home if I was close enough to pick it up. I have no place to put it though, nor do I have any way to transport this...

Need help with PSU for CNI MGL-W-532

I agree. many older units are specific, but more recent ones are universal. It will be very important to look over the unit carefully and give all the info you can. If it was labelled 110 on tape or something, then odds are, that is what it is set up for.

    TDK-Lambda GENH20-38 lab power supply 0-20V 0-38A Perfect for testing/driving laser diodes

Indeed, I can only imagine what these cost new. Fantastic supply. shame it doesn't have the desktop feet. I'll be using it in that config rather than as a half-rack mount.

    TDK-Lambda GENH20-38 lab power supply 0-20V 0-38A Perfect for testing/driving laser diodes

Got it the other day. Works great. Thanks a bunch. I've been needing a high current supply for a while now.

    Remember to exercise those argons!

Yeah, I wouldn't be too worried. air cooled, fully sealed ion tubes generally don't care if they sit if they were properly manufactured. Usually it's the large ones that have manual gas feeds and such that weigh like 100 lbs that need babying. most little air cooled tubes don't mind too much...

Which is the BEST laser color for BURNING?

Well. technically there's alot of factors that come into play for heating things/"burning" things with lasers, but the three biggest things are often power, absorbtion, and beam profile. wavelength doesn't have a ton to do with it for your purposes, except in relation to what your burning being...

Feeler: 10x Melles Griot Beam Expanders

That would make sense for those lasers. Those Melles griot ones are mainly made for alot of their lab lasers and HeNes. almost every MG laser i've ever had has about a 1mm output or slightly smaller. so the 2.5mm opening is very good. the one that I have is a 20x and it is very nice. perfect for...

Feeler: 10x Melles Griot Beam Expanders

I think it wouldnt be too haard to have someone who can do machining or 3d printing to make them. they're not hard t o make.

Feeler: 10x Melles Griot Beam Expanders

yeah. I concur. most people here wouldn't have an adapter to mount these to, but for the price, they're amazing at anything less than a few hundred dollars if they're in good shape. I know they used to use them on the S series lasers for use in the aerospace industry for precision alignment, but...

Feeler: 10x Melles Griot Beam Expanders

I have a 20x version. These are very high quality, far beyond typical hobby parts. these are over a thousand dollars new iirc. they're not cheap. and yes they are made to expand gas lasers fro interferometry and long distance sighting and so on. they're not made for cheap diode lasers generally...

    TDK-Lambda GENH20-38 lab power supply 0-20V 0-38A Perfect for testing/driving laser diodes

if this is still available I might be interested. let me look up specs and dimensions and i'll get back to you

Mira 900 laser oscillator for sale

I honestly would buy this if I had the money and a place to put it... I definitely feel you on the speed bit too. A lot of these older lasers are getting to be pretty hard sells

    USB Oscilloscope

I gotta agree. for the price they're a great scope-my friend has one. I personally still use a bunch of old dinosaur Tek stuff. I actually need to debug my old analog 100MHz 465B.... It has an occasional glitch that I need to look into, but it still works great otherwise. In the meantime I've...

Newcommer here doing something stupid with co2 lasers

That's alot of extra work....I just put one next to the tube and used a pair of mirrors to put it on axis with the co2 beam. the one in the sight of the CO2 beam was on a slider, so I just slid it out of the way once i was ready to use it. simple. just have to make sure it's all on a rigid base...

A lot of professional CO2 lasers actually used a helium neon laser for a guide

DIY Zilog Z80 computer as a hands-on project...

Yes, they have a very high endurance now, and it's quite good for fast low power consumption memory. MRAM is interesting to me though, I'd like to see STT stuff come to fruition, but it needs alot of energy to operate. FRAM is still going to outlast the devices it's put int most likely by far...

DIY Zilog Z80 computer as a hands-on project...

SRAM is quite interesting to work with. most of mine are all 32K CDIPs. I used two in my 1802 build. though one is swappable to allow me to use an EPROM in it's place with a jumper change. I've not made a Z80 board. might be fun to look into sometime. I could probably grab a couple more chips...

DIY Zilog Z80 computer as a hands-on project...

Agreed, there are whole forums and clubs dedicated to stuff like this. I actually have one of the oldest vintage Z80 chips you can get in my chip collection. I always thought about making something with one, but I never have. I have an old arcade board that uses a Z80/V30 for the sound...

    Diode pump a ruby laser?

Yeah, it's technically possible, just exceptionally hard. Ruby by nature doesn't lase CW, and even when you can coax it to never stop lasing, the power still is kinda a pseudo pulse. It has to be cooled quite a bit to force enough depopulation of the upper states to keep any output going...
