Hi, I am deciding between the 80mw green laser pointer or the 1600mw blue, is it worth paying the difference? is the blue brighter?

Because of the way human eyes perceive light, the green will appear very close to the same brightness as the blue, but keep in mind that that blue is 20x more powerful than the green, and at 1.6 watts you're approaching the levels of power where even the reflection off a white wall can cause permanent eye damage. If you're just getting in to lasers I'd recommend the lower power green, which is still dangerous but much less so, and will still be very bright.

Ty! Also, if I choose the DHL/FEDEX shipping option are also the batteries send with DHL/FEDEX?

wrong--The factor is four NOT two.
twice the power of 80mW is 320mW and so on. afaik

so called free batts are a bad move-- free means the cheapest AND
batts in the same box is another bad idea.. like sending a pistol that is loaded...get them elsewhere.. or pay to have them sent alone.

Hak:
You are confusing output power and brightness .

He is talking about mW of power regardless of wavelength---- 1.6W is 20X more output power in mW than 80mW.

You are thinking of the rule of thumb for double the brightness of the same wavelength--2X visual brightness takes 4X the mW power output

This has actually been an ongoing question for me, how does one calculate the theoretical limit of brightness perception of a given frequency as per Fechner's law?: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weber–Fechner_law#Fechner's_law

I get that the relation is logarithmic, but how would one know what percentage of the maximum possible perception of 525nm light a 1W laser would present vs. a 10W laser? The rule of thumb where 4x power increase means 2x brightness increase only applies to a thin band of the logarithmic relation

Yes I know it's very subjective, but based on the architecture of the human eye I'm sure some smart somebody could calculate this value (maximum perceivable brightness before eye damage). Please post your equations if you do :)

Very Excited, I just ordered a 4W 470nm Ranger, Excited to see the dimmer switch, going to do a full review when it lands

Podo hasnt been on the forums in a while it seems though!
Wow how did I not hear about this laser?? I have 6 Sanwu’s and this dimmer switch idea fascinates me.

May I ask why you chose the 4W 470nm, rather than the 5W 445?

Also, general question… any suggestions on what model/style/tritiums to order? :) too many choices

hope Francis took care of you. I’ve had awesome luck with Sanwu

So there were a few reasons I went with the 470nm over the 445nm. The 470nm is such a true blue as where the 445nm comes across very purple to me. I have a 7W 445nm to compare it with and the difference in person is drastic but hard to capture on camera.

As to styles its All personal preference but i went with the style that allowed for 11 vials and did blue to match the laser. It came out awesome. The dimming switch makes an awesome burning tool as i use to aim the laser at first then crank it up when i have it on the object i want to burn. I know thats not its main purpose but I'm a bit of a pyro so dont judge 🙏😂

Build and everything on this laser was 1000% over what i expected. This was my first from Sanwu now I can't decide which to get next!

Wow that sounds awesome - I think I’ll order the same. I’ve also noticed that the 445 isn’t too impressive visually.

I have several Sanwu’s - 1.2 green red guardian with beam expander, a green and a blue pocket, and three 304s with the lightsaber attachments :) I love them all

Just received my green 1.2W Laser Ranger. Very nice construction, feels quite heavy in hand with a 18650 battery. Some issue using it with a 18350 battery as the one I have doesn't have a button on top hence contact on the + side is not made.
I created a 3D printed support for it. If interested you can grab it on Thingiverse, search for object ID 4858573 or just search on "sanwu laser ranger" on thingiverse (sorry can't post link, this is a new account on laserpointerforum).

I wish Sanwu would sell a LEP “lens” (for lack of a better word) to convert blue to a white beam. I seem to remember wicked offering something like that before they stopped selling to the US
It would be good to have a white beam, but this seems to just turn your blue laser into a cheap flashlight ("eye-safe")...

Wow that thing is amazing. What kind of 3D printer would be best to print that? I’ve been wanting to get one for years

I’m using a Keeppower IMR18350 1200 mAh in my Sanwu Guardian and it works great. I wonder if the same one would work in yours?

didn't really know where else to post this so here goes - I just bought and received a Sanwu Challenger II 3W 445nm laser in Single Mode operation with one 18650 battery for power - and I have not been able to get it to turn on for more than a brief second. Is there a method to unlock it that differs from the instructions on the site?

I did search around here a bit and saw someone having similar issues but that was with multi-mode operation.

I have tried single half presses, which prompts the beam to appear for a second-ish as is what happens when I power it on, and the same with 3 half presses and 5 half presses, or really any number of them.
