25mm heatsink?

Looking for a 50-60mm heatsink "sleeve" for a 25mm module.

Aluminum, so not too heavy. Finned or not finned.

Gutted this old Ryobi flashlight and a dead battery pack.

Looked at building into it a 7.4v LiPo battery pack, but going to go cheap at first and try a 6AA holder with NiMH cells (8.4v charged to 7.2v discharged).

The weight at the bottom makes it sit nicely and the head pivots great.

Nice complement for this 7W 445nm module!

That said, it pulls down 1A at 7v, so the NiMH AA cells may not do well long term, but it will be an OK start. I have tons of AA NiMH cells and chargers.

Love me some ryobi stuff!! Looking Iwould just use 1865os if youhave some good ones. Liposxwill do too

I think what I'm going to do is buy some copper pipe, cut it into sections about 2" in length, then slit lengthwise. Bend each successive section into a sleeve to fit around the next. As long as there is some pressure through friction, there should be thermal transfer. I could solder it all together, but probably no need.

Here's the mod'ed Ryobi battery. Long dead so no loss. Also, 11 years old, so I don't think the charger circuit was worth trying to replace the LiPo cells.

Using 6 AA NiMH batteries fully charged is 8.4V, drops to around 7V when depleted. So far has powered the 7W 450nm module well.

I just have to mark it in such a way I don't try to charge it with the 18V batteries! :)

IDK. Wouldn't it be better to use quality 18650s or 26650s? Those 14500s are usually reserved for much lower power builds. I have a couple in EDC builds, but the power is limited to under 150 mW.

They're rated 2AH and the module draws about 1AH. Probably higher draw than what they're designed for but will start with this and go from there.
