Hi guys,

Could anyone of you teach me how to scratch the small 1mm thick FS mirrors from the Knife edge part of A-130 light engine? They look like Al coated mirrors.

I kept the mount 1 week in each water, acetone, ethanol and toluene, warmed up in boiling water but they did not debond from the Al mount.

heat the AL mount with a heat gun or torch. After awhile the mirrors can be popped off with a sharp object like a razor blade.

Thank you, logsquared.

Have you tried this before?
At start I was afraid to do this because the coefficient of thermal expansion for glass and Al might be different and then all mirrors could crack at once.

Hundreds of them. Don't heat the glass directly, just the Aluminum. The glue on the back is fairly soft. The glue will be three small dots per mirror. It can be removed with a new sharp razor.

Hundreds? What do you do with them?

To my opinion they do not look like HR mirors, rather like coated Al film - so maximum 85-90% of reflectivity to expect for all WL range. Right?

But they are very thin and lean and could fit into a very small setup.

Stuff like this combiner. And lots of modules built over the years. I can't recall the exact reflectivity. I think about 95% for blue.

Good are combiners you have on that picture! I hope these all are NUBM44s?

You were right, the heat gun at 150ºC made the mirrors debond and fall pretty fast. They are a little thicker than I tought, dimensions are 25x5x1.1mm but maybe still fine for another crazy project what I expected to do with them - to squeeze outer beam rows from this baby in between the inner ones.
The usual HR dielectric mirrors with their 10mm width and 2mm thickness would not pass in...

The NTC contacts here must be thermal sensors but when I attach a reader for 10kOm sensor it shows a nonsence (not room temperature).

BTW this is my 400th post finally.
