I have read in many places that an Ophir 20C can read up to 5W and 10-20W heatsinked. Any idea where to get a heatsink or would someone be able to make one? How much would it cost? Would it just need a hunk of metal or a cooling fan as well? Thanks :yh:

Wow, that's a great heatsink, Red! :yh:

The pics I've got here are one of the versions that Mrcrouse used to make, this one is a 3 sided one, he also made one that completely surrounded the sensor.

Unfortunately all of his photos with dimensions seem to be gone, as he used Photobucket.

In addition to the heat sink you will also need to increase the + and - rail voltages to read higher powers too. It is not as simple as just adding the heat sink.

That was member djQUAN.

Here's his thread he linked to...
https://laserpointerforums.com/f52/epay-3-pack-laser-lpm-results-84586.html

The way it is setup the max reading will
be 5W. There is no real heatsinking.

The OPHIR specs say 4Watts max without
additional heat sinking and a max 20W with
good heatsinking.

Remember the mass and surface area of
the head must be increased to get better
temperature stability and head cooling.
