Searching for a 100/200mW 520nm diode

Hi,

I was searching everywhere but i was stuck at the pl520 55mW and the massive 2W unit. I saw that the pl520-b2 was listed as 90mW, but others say its 55mW...

Does anybody have a component number or place that sells 100/200mW 520nm diodes if they even exist?

I heard Sharp was planning on mass producing a 130mW variant in past october. But I haven’t seen/heard anything about it since.

I’m currently designing a beautiful internal copper heatsink body, which holds the diode and driver assembly, and the copper runs trough the entire battery compartment for extra cooling. All inside a host of 94mmx24mm. Its an aluminum ultrafire Q5 police/military style host, its going to be watertight too. But this time i want to use a 520nm if i can find powers between 100/200mW, preferably without overdriving them

I have DTR's PLP520-B1 at I think 430mah hitting 170mW with a 3 element. Does DTR not sell them anymore?

Just checked and he has a limited stock left as he can't find more. I will say it's my go to green laser..

I will have a look, i believe this is the 55mW variant. How long do you have that 170mW diode? I’m worried about spending that much on a low life span if i push it as high as yours.

Thanks

It's listed at 120mw. Lifetime17 set it up for me and at the time they were a bit more than the $65 he show's now so he didn't want to push it.
I have it in a 501B host with a AL sink. I can't say I feel much heat on the outside at least, and when I say my go to green laser I don't think I have more than 50 total hours on it or even close to that. Going on probably 3 years of having it though.

Thats pretty cool. Is it siglemode or multimode? I noticed there are 2 versions. The pl520 and the plp520, i’m guessing the plp version is better right?

By the way, what driver are you using? Sorry for stupid questions i have never touched any 520nm yet.

Edit: in my particular design, i’m 100 percent certain heat won’t be an issue. Pretty sure it can handle 1W of 445 without a problem for long cycles. My current design is awesome, i need to find a machine shop for it.

I've got one of these in albeit not built yet - the PL520B is rated at 80mw by the manufacturer but can be overdriven (DTR's testing shows this).

I can't remember as to what driver he used.. I'm using a single 18650 though.
There is alot of confusion though between the PL520's and I think the PLP520 with the B1 at the end seems to be the more robust of the lower powers. Also can't remember if it is a singlemode?? Not a stupid question at all as at $65 you don't want to make a mistake..
Let me email Lifetime and mention this thread as he works and probably won't log in till later..

:)^^^^^^There you go^^^^^^ I guess if the PL ends with a P it's seems to be a Multi mode.. I can't complain about the spot with my experience and even DTR mentions it's about a 1/3rd as big as a M140..

Where do you see that, by DTR's pics?
Got one unused as yet in front of me :)

Took a quick picture - (20mm) penny for scale.

I would measure the diode with calipers or something for proof but I've no ESD controls at home (and that's what killed my first one of these, so I'd rather not...)

Yup thats the smaller PL's and that must been awful losing it that way:(
It sucks but what can you do... Work has a lab with full ESD controls & dissipative flooring etc. Will go in later this week to build it into its host.

Hi
Ok there is also a NDG4216/SM/3.8mm/100mW/350mA, sure it can be pushed further with a good sink.
They run out 46.00US .

DTR's Sharp 505nm diode is much closer to 510nm. I believe it is much cheaper than the alternatives. I know for a fact it can be driven over 100 mW with a Nano Boost driver set to 275 mA. I would pair it with his two element 520nm AR coated lens. Just a thought.
