Have you tried looking for an astronomy club in your area. you can look through other peoples telescopes till you get your own. That way you can see what kind of scope you might want. And you learn faster looking over the shoulder of and experenced astronomer. But a good way to start is with a reflector telescope. they'er easy to use and easy to mantain.

You say you are into astronomy Weltall. Do you have a scope? I have been watching Jupture approch the moon the last few night through my old little 5 inch Celestron. I use to live in Alaska where the sky was dark. but since I retired I have move down here to the lower 48 states and most of the stars I use to view are hard to see now. What are the skys like where you are?
