Question for the firearms afficianados out there.

I've been in your situation before. My suggestion would be a Smith and Wesson 629, stainless steel finish, rubber grips, in either the 5" or 6" barrel (depending on your personal preferences): Large Frame (N) - Smith & Wesson You can't beat the reliability and endurance of a revolver, or the...

Lazeerer: Brilliant Polishing Job, Great Guy

I love Lazeerer's work. It's always great stuff. I own a few myself. Sure wish I could afford that "Silver Scepter", it looks killer good.

[SOLD] [PRICE DROP: $175] FS: "Silver Scepter" 300mW 635nm Torch

Re: FS: "Silver Scepter" 300mW 635nm Torch Man, that is probably the NICEST host I have ever seen. I love Lazeerer's work, I own a few of his creations. I especially love the fact that the business end of the host looks just like the top of Tower of Mordor in the "Lord of the Rings" movie...

DTR's Laser Shop - Laser Diodes & More

I'll endorse DTR's M140 diodes. Almost a year ago, I put together one of these great Large Maglite Monster kits from Jayrob: http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/jayrobs-large-maglite-monster-kit-62657.html I loved the kit and the sexy unit that resulted, but as you can read in the old thread...

    Why am I here?

Heh, good report of good memories, OP. I can relate... I discovered lasers in 1971, when I was involved in an amateur theatrical production, and we were provided with a large AC-powered tripod-mounted red laboratory laser for special effects. I lived in a house where my bedroom window faced a...

    405 pens for $9 shipped

I like this one: eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices I bought one of these based on a review from someone else on these boards. Shipping from China is so slow that the review which provoked me to try buying one of these is now buried...

Looking for a good burning laser

The previous $139 recommendation is a very good one, for a solid tool with shipment within the USA and great customer support. But, don't even consider buying the laser unless you also have eye protection on hand, before you think about turning it on. Losing an eye is forever; they don't grow...

Heads Up.. PayPal/eBay the F%$king GREEDY PIGS.....

Re: Heads Up.. PayPal the F%$king GREEDY PIGS..... I resigned from selling on eBay in March or April of 2010, when they made that particular season's policy change that screwed over sellers, and I decided that I was smarter than to get taken advantage of in the way eBay had decided to take...

    What's your major?

I have a BA in Religious Studies. I went on to get about a half-dozen software patents, and pioneer a couple of world-changing software innovations. (I was responsible for MATLAB for about 12 years, if anyone here has ever heard of MATLAB). There's a lesson there, about college degrees, but...

    O-Like or Lazerer?

O-like can be all over the place. I got two identical 405nm lasers from them. One was WAY over-spec. One was somewhat under-spec. I bought a really expensive 350nm green laser from them, and it was horribly under-spec. I made a big deal out of it, threatening a chargeback, bad reviews...

Need some help for a college project

Be careful to pay attention to the duty cycle of your laser. Unless you know that the unit you bought has an unlimited duty cycle, don't put it into the container and turn it on, and then walk away for 15 minutes. Lest you come back to a broken laser with a cooked diode or driver.

    Shallowing a focus ring

Thanks, folks. Some good concepts here. I'm not much of an idea guy, but I'm good at taking suggested concepts and ideas and adapting them to solve problems. You've given me some really good ideas.

    Shallowing a focus ring

I have a number of custom focus rings from good people on this forum, that I like to use to dress up my hand-held units, and/or make the units easier to handle. However, makers of custom focus rings seem to often thread the rings to a generous depth. As a result, when the lens is fully seated...

    Career Suggestions

You think Ghostchrome is LOL? I'm 57, and I am still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up (and I've done a buttload of amazingly interesting things while I have been trying to figure that out). All of LIFE is LOL...
